I still will watch it though, as there is stuff to learn from it. What about Rick Dale and Ricks Restoration's? That show has me wondering, especially the prices people are willing to pay to get old junk painted up. Thousands are the normal I see quoted by Rick. |

But when you are dealing with tv we have to go by an organized script. More ratings more profit its a buisness and for the history channel we tell about the items that come through the shop everything we buy or sell has history behind it . |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 21961165 United States 12/27/2012 09:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | 99% of the stuff on these shows (storage wars, pawn stars, american pickers, etc) IS WORTHLESS OLD JUNK. These shows are funded by the antique and boutique industries through their marketing organizations and lobbies. Who needs or wants, has the place to store/display, much less pay a premium for some sign for some 1900's gas station? Who wants beer cans or memorabilia from Mickey Gilley's honky tonk from the 1970s? Who wants a 100lb part of some old ship cluttering up a room that you have to clean, heat, cool and pay taxes on? You'd have to be kinda effeminate to want a ring wore by some pro-athlete when they won a championship of a sport that kids can play. These shows give the opportunity for old people like me to see relics from earlier periods in our live on the TEVEE. It is a way to record these artifacts on film before somebody properly melts them down and use them for something productive. The only thing I am spending money on is which brand of adult diapers based on the adverts. |

They were filming Rick but the other guys were working. Kowboy was sanding a fridge when we walked through. They are a real legit business doing what they do on TV. Everyone treated us well. Rick's wife and daughter toured us around. The store even smells like a workshop like my grandfather used to work in. They are cool folks. As for the pawn stars, I went there too. Its 68 percent T-shirts, magnets, and chumlee stuff. Mostly it looks like more TV show than pawn shop. The guys were not there. It was a real bummer. |

What caught my attention was the guy selling the car was wearing a Counts Customs jacket. This happened befopre when a guy in another early episode was selling a item and I noticed it was Rick Dale's brother. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 3021517 United States 02/06/2013 11:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | From a source close to the Harrison family as disclosed to Russell Scott Quoting: Chum-Lee 11438968 Source: First of all they never used to sell the things they sell today, they were the bottom of the barrel, they were the people you would go to at 3 in the morning with a gold bracelet to get some extra drug money. They never had anything really nice..oh sure I think they had a Super Bowl ring and maybe a couple of nice things, but nothing like it is now...everything changed once they went on television. Russell Scott: What's it like going to their store? Source: Well they never come out to the front unless it's time to film, they sit in the back..all four of them and sign page after page of autographs for $25 a pop to a line up of people. And everything you see on TV is fake, its all set up what the offer will be and whether or not they will buy it, its all a show...Sure they buy stuff, but its all determined well before the show after the studio interviews the people who want to go on the show...the people walking around the shop in the show are just extras. Russell Scott: What is Rick Harrison like in real life? Source: He's a good guy, he really is, probably the be... Con't @ [link to www.westcoasttruth.com] Not surprising. It's obvious most of the lines are scripted. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20901416 Source: Oh totally, he's a moron and a drunk. He's just an uneducated biker that hangs around that other goof Corey...big drinkers and they never worked the store either, that started when the show started...as I said it's all staged." Actually, he's not dumb at all. Our home town news station did an interview with Chumlee, and his responses blew me away. He spoke without the dumb drawl he speaks with on the show, and he was incredibly intelligent. He's acting on the show, and he does it well. The man in real life is well put together and personable. |
