| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20152091 07/31/2012 02:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don't run red lights. But I don't like the cameras because machines aren't alway correct. I have gotten nailed from some speeding cameras. But when you're the only car on the road, does the speed limit really need to be 50 on a road built for 80? THey're just revnue generators. Just put in a toll gate and stop screwing around. |

I know they never have enough cops, but maybe they should spend the money on hiring more cops instead. I would rather see the cops ticketing people who drive recklessly and drunk. These cameras don't really make the roads any safer because everyone knows which stoplights have them. They still speed, run lights, and fail to stop on the side streets where there is more pedestrian traffic. This is unacceptable. "Fortune, honour, beauty, youth are but blossoms dying. Wanton pleasures, doting love are but shadows flying." ---Thomas Campion |

Make it a challenge to hit it with a 22 rifle. It will get your snipping skills up and send a message to the federalies that were not going to take there robo cop crap anymore. Quoting: Anonymous Doug a 7.62x39 or a 7.62x54R would do more damage :) |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20732143 07/31/2012 03:19 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In my neck of the woods they tend to blow things like that up, although there is a special hatred for the large pay and display parking meters... there are 80 machines in the town and they have been blown up +400 times, they even tried bomb proofing them, covering them in steel jackets and at times digging them up and hiding them.. no of which has worked as this recent clip from the BBC covers in a jovial way. In 6 years, after some 400 explosions (people stopped counting in 2009 when it got to 400) thus far the Police have not managed to arrest a single suspect.. so much for the effectiveness of CCTVs and undercover patrols.. LOL However.. it should be noted the Police did go all out with their campaign to warn people (with beer mats and stickers) that blowing things up is dangerous.. LOL.. Further details of the new bomb proofed parking meters.. which have not worked out that well.. [link to www.crimestoppers-uk.org] |

[link to www.ichillicothe.com] [link to www.cantonredlightcameras.com] Seems the fine was 100.00 per infraction, to go into court to oppose the ticket one had to pay 100.00 before being heard in the court in case you were found guity, anyone say kangaroo court?? these cameras represent a huge chunk of money for the city and its officials. Bribes to said officials by Redflex. These cameras and traps can be defeated but its going to take a ballot issue to have them removed, or .22 target practice as some have already suggested. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20354267 07/31/2012 06:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just another way to mindlessly enslave you and make you follow meaningless rituals and regulations so that they can steal your money and beat you up for no reason. Meanwhile, they break every law known to man and actually lie, cheat, steal, murder, falsify and become violent, all just for money and to make themselves feel good. The people that tell them to do this have all the money in the world and don't need any. They literally do it for world domination. WAKE UP |

[link to www.illawarramercury.com.au] It was about this time last year when shiny new "safety cameras" were switched on at five busy intersections across Wollongong. They would, government policy boffins declared, improve road safety by busting lead-foots and red-light runners and in turn, reduce the number and severity of crashes. But one year on, the cameras have presided over a less than desirable outcome - a whopping increase in car accidents. • MAP: Speed cameras in the Illawarra At one Windang intersection, average annual crashes skyrocketed more than 200 per cent, while they jumped more than 100 per cent at another in Figtree. Why? The results, unveiled in an audit this week, are especially puzzling because elsewhere in NSW, other newly installed safety cameras have led to big reductions in collision rates. |

"The five cameras have hauled in $949570 in red-light fines in less than a year..." And then, on the other side.. [link to www.transport.nsw.gov.au] NSW Roads Minister Duncan Gay has unveiled the Government’s speed camera strategy which will see the money raised from camera detected speeding, red-light and point-to-point traffic offences being hypothecated for road safety programs. Mr Gay said the NSW Auditor General last year asked the NSW Government to develop an overarching speed camera strategy to generate greater transparency and public confidence in this important program. “This Government for the first time will ensure money raised from speed, red light and point-to-point cameras will go directly towards improving road safety,” Mr Gay said. We'll have them forever...follow the money, honey... |
