From an academic standpoint, I know as much about business and macro-economics as an MD knows about medicine and the human body. When I hear about these idiot lawyers in congress and the White House trying to do business strategy, I cringe. Why would a bunch of lawyers know anything about business strategy? That's like hiring an MBA to perform brain surgery or hiring an MD to build a bridge. Lawyers know nothing about business, yet Obama, all of his cronies, and almost everyone in Congress are lawyers. No wonder the country is so fucked. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20191040 While I agree that most lawyers know shit about business, it's ridiculous to compare an MBA to an MD degree. At medical school people learn real skills that can be applied to saving lies. In an MBA program you learn fuck-all. I should know, I have an MBA as well, and I freely admit its useless bullshittery. Don't embarrass yourself. The only useful things I got out of my MBA program were the connections I made with my fellow students. The content of the actual education is fucking worthless. They should call it an MDA (Master of Douchebaggery Arts). Only one thing matters in business: results. And having an MBA is pretty much irrelevant to gaining results, except for the connection part. Takes one to know one, bro. |

A lot of coal and oil work + mining. Huge shiny new Ford trucks outnumbered Chevy/Dodge by at least 10 to 1. Quoting: Little Bee Ford might not make very good cars but, man, do they have good trucks. Those things they call Super Duty are like a semi-truck with a shorter wheelbase. Crazy horsepower and unbelievable torque. There is no way that GM can keep up with a Super Duty. The Ram cab & chassis comes close but still not the same level. Kudos to Ford for making such good trucks. If they were smart, they would get out of the business of manufacturing cars and stick with trucks and SUV's. They could have some Chinese company manufacture cars for them and then Ford could market them in the US at a nice profit. |

Their Chevys and Pontiacs were as good as any car on the market. That all seemed to change around the late 80s and early 90s. My GMs were breaking down more often and wearing out much sooner. My last GM product was a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned. It was in the shop more than it was on the road and parts were ghastly expensive. I lost an ignition key for it once and the replacement was $110.00!! Anyways, I switched to Fords after getting rid of that lemon and have never been happier. My 2002 Ford Taurus has over 250,000 miles on it and still runs like a top and the only time it is in the shop is for scheduled maintenance. I will never, ever buy a GM again no matter what types of incentives or financing deals they are offering. I hope they go under. Quoting: my 2 cents Quality at the Big Three took a big hit starting in the mid 70's when all the emissions controls BS started. They were never the same after that. |

I think it was a lot earlier than the 70’s. Back home in Germany, (early 60’s) my dad bought a Chevrolet Impala. For many, the Impala was a viable alternative to Mercedes at that time. The build quality was good and the car would go on for ever. In the mid 60’s, the big 3 stopped selling American cars in Europe. This “Trade embargo” goes on to this very day. If you like to buy a Camaro or Mustang, it’s “single Import” only. If you add all import duties and shipping, we pay almost double the price. You think that’s ridicules? As a European, we are not even allowed American made Wrangler jeans. No joke. This is to protect the Wrangler jobs in Poland. All Wrangler Jeans in Europe come from Poland that is company policy. If I like to get some American made Wrangler, I have to ask my US fiends to buy them for me and send them as a “Gift” to get past the customs. My Chrysler Jeep is assembled in Graz (Austria), I would rather buy a Jeep assembled in Jefferson but again, I am not allowed. So it’s not that we would not like to buy your products. It’s you who don’t like us to have them. |

Every single one of them must be getting paid off, it is just not possible that so many people can be that fucking stupid. Speaking of getting fucked, Facebook is worth about $1.60 per share. What the fuck is wrong with everone in our financial markets? Granted, interconnted derivative dependent financial markets that operate in the shadows makes it easy to fuck people, but it dosn't take a genius to understand that this is not sustainable. FYI. The next blow to the markets will be the Treasury Bond bubble busting. The demand for TBs (and probably MBS as well) has been manipulated through massive interest rate swap transactions with fixed income bonds embeded in them. Thus creating a demand for the bonds that really dosn't exist. The 10 yr Treasury is trading at 0% (net of inflation) despite the US gov's $1.5 trillion annual defict spending and an imminent credit event looming? Bull Shit! |

GM is losing domestic market share at a rapid rate. From January to April 2012, GM lost 11% of its market share – about 300,000 vehicles of market share. Cadillac was down almost 25%. Quoting: sonic doom Remember that big GM boom? It’s a lie. Obama may have bailed out GM, but he didn’t bail out the taxpayer – and in the long run, GM won’t be a viable business just because the government cut it a check. [link to www.breitbart.com] The bailout of gm was nothing more than payback to the unions. everybody knows that. It was never meant to fix GM. GM will go bankrupt eventually and the media will not even mention the union payoff for getting barry elected. |
