TOKYO --The Japanese government will strengthen cooperation with other countries to effectively develop and carry out strategies for nuclear safety, decommissioning and decontamination. It will set up a bilateral commission with each of the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom and other countries in an effort to garner knowledge and expertise from each country. While the area of nuclear power encompasses many ministries and other governmental departments, establishing a bilateral commission will enable relevant departments of two governments to meet together in one place and make decisions more swiftly. The Japanese government hopes that this will facilitate smooth operation of the decommissioning of the Fukushima I nuclear power station, which caused the accident last year, as well as the decontamination of the surrounding areas. At ~14:00 in Gundersen: The particles escaped the torus… that’s what’s fascinating… these are outside containment… it’s quite clear that the junction between the torus and the dry part of the containment failed. At ~13:15 in Arnold Gundersen, Nuclear Engineer: So I think they get to the point where they throw some concrete down on the top of it and come back in 300 years… This is not something I can figure out how one would clean up… 300, 400, 500 years. They can throw money at Fuk forever. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1504940 There is no technology to fix it.
