when shit gets real we will see some old tools come out of the woodshed. commodities like food will be rationed via ration cards and or coupons, wage and price controls will become reality, electrical brownouts will become the norm, medicine will be rationed. gas will be sold by odd or even plate numbers and perhaps limited to 8 gallons or less.

all this and more has happened in the U.S. as recently as the 1970's. one look at the balance sheet and it's clear that the pnr (point of no return) is on the doorstep. the severity of the problem will hit home when steps begin to be taken such as those mentioned above.

this years skill acquisition is the fine art of making home brewed beer.

Your arguement is certainly valid, although the thought of a slow, continual decline into eventual oblivion is more scary to me than the other. The one variable that makes me think that there will be a speed up somewhere is the current administrative credo of "Don't let a crisis go to waste". With that mentality, I can see our illustrious leaders, on both sides of the slit trench, taking advantage of a slow crash to turn it into a fast crash and allow a more complete and total power grab.
