So anyone still using Facebook, u should reconsider! UPDATE

Well up until now, the only things I've seen them be able to access, are things that are public. If I really wanted to push the issue, I could sue them to find out how they accessed private info. But that would not help my client any. This was also the info I provided when I first set up the account. They were asking stupid questions, which I tried to provide an answer, although at times was not easy.

Deleted it? I did the same and it says something like " you can sign back in and re activate your account at anytime" well, if it was REALLY deleted then how would they do that? hmmm.

Suing them will get you no where. They collected the data illegally and will not admit that they have it. Prove that they have it.

Although I do not post there, I did keep my Facebook account due to the fact that I have 5 younger brothers and sisters who all have kids. I live out of state and use Facebook to get updates on them and pictures. Other than the occasional comment concerning how cute my nephews are, I dont post. I also have my privacy settings set so that only my friends can see my info, and only accept friends who I know and trust. Well, as some people on here know I am a criminal defense attorney. I had to testify as a witness today regarding a trial that I did in 2008. Well, long story short, despite the fact that my settings are on private, the District Attorney's Office gave me a copy of my Facebook page. There were no posts that were a problem, as I don’t post. However, when you set up your account it asks you to fill in different categories, ie: interests, music, hobbies. Under the "about me" section, I wrote, criminal lawyer fighting against fascism and oppression. Well, the Government had this info, and tried to use it to suggest I was somehow against the Government. Really fucked up. Don’t know how they accessed this info. Needless to say, I just canceled my Facebook account. I suggest u all do the same.

Another thing I noticed is I get friend suggestions from Facebook for clients who i have no other connection to. At first I thought maybe they viewed my profile and thus, they become a suggested friend. But then I had a female client show up, who had been in jail for 18 months. No way she viewed my profile. So the question is, how did Facebook figure out my connection?

There is no way you can fight fascism and oppression as a member of the BAR.

if they want your info theyll get it, they had AOL,and now facebook and myspace.if they want you bad enough they can get whatever they want,they have keys to all public encryption services,they can monitor all communications if they want, and if that doesnt work theyll just make it up. just live your life, if your not on their radar you have nothing to worry about.

I still use mine, sort of to be the "black sheep" of my friends. Dropping truth bombs and making them write me off as crazy because they don't understand me is a blast. Waiting for my account to get banned, or for the feds to come kick in my door for letting the average sheep see what a conspiracy theorist can dig up by doing research.

Also heard something lately about them getting warrants to actually listen in on your phone’s microphone, even when you are not making a call. I am careful to say the least.

Now that's some bullshit. I would totally get rid of my cellphone if I didn't move 800 miles away from my mom. If they want to listen to mine they will nothing but silence since i stay on the internet most of the time. this is starting to get to me. i guess we should start reading the terms and services clause of crap:'(

This last issue with the microphones, they did need to get a warrant to do it. However, when they used the cell phone to track a person's movements, they claimed that under the Patriot Act and the "trap and trace" statute (meaning a provision that allows them to look at your incoming and outgoing calls on a standard of less than probable cause) they do not need a warrant.

I wish I could tell you the truth behind this. But.....can't. Sorry.
