Back in the day I was on a surfing trip up at Exmouth when the base up there was staffed by Americans. We went to a party in town, and there were alot of marines - sure enough, before midnight there was a massive brawl between the locals and marines.

A couple of massive, big dual-cab F100-like 4wds rocked up out of nowhere with flashing lights, some uniformed Americans jumped out, and they went storming around rounding up any marine they could spot, frog marching them to the 4wds, and took off.

Unfortunately, this was a common event. There was alot of tension between some locals and the servicemen, mainly probably because there was a lack of women up that way, and besides surfing or fishing, there was jack to do other than go to the one pub, or go to a private party.

Expect more of the same if this goes ahead.
