Americans, how much do you pay for health care?
In Germany, under 'statutory health insurance', a single male person earning a gross income of 2.500 € pays

205,- € for health insurance. (the rate is 15ish %)

He also pays:

Income Tax: 180,-
pension scheme: 245,- €
Unemployment insurance: 37,50 €
nursing care insurance: 30,60 €

So that 1791,64 € are his net income he gets wired to his bank account.

All of the insurances are mandatory, you cannot opt out, just like you cannot have no health insurance.

How much do you have to pay for social security and how much is health insurance, usually?

I'm an American (Canada is part of the Americas) and my health care is free.

You probably meant to say USA citizens though.

Brand new job I started less than 2 weeks ago has the following:

125 bucks / paycheck for Me + family dental, vision, and PPO. No deductibles for family, mine is 300. Total out of pocket max is 1500

After my deductible is met, I pay 15%

Pretty good plan, imo, much better than my previous government contracting job for sure....

I have not had enough money to buy insurance for 49 years. It cost more then buying a house here in Oregon.

Look at the Blue Cross Blue Shield high deductable plan
$10,000 deductable for 3 people is about $439.00 per month
After that 10K deductable is fulfilled they cover 100%

I was paying like you 24K a year for what ? You need major medical being self employed not full coverage.

For now we have it good. Wife gets it for free and I get paid $9000 for waiving it. That's a 55% payout for employer's costs should I have opted to take it. I'm sure this benefit will disappear under O-LadenCare. It was/is a nice perk while it lasts and was the difference maker in leaving my last job.

Re: Americans, how much do you pay for health care?
Here in Canada, there are provinces where it is as it should be, FREE. All across Canada, those on fixed incomes pay nothing for medicare or medicines.

And last time I checked for a single working person in BC it was just a little more than 50 dollars a month.

Ours costs less per person to the federal government that the US model even before Obama, for decades, even though they use middle men, and literally like to take tax money and dump into their wealthy friends pocket by setting up usary systems.

However they can turn no one away. If a person doesnt have medical, isn't working or on a disability say, like many 20 year olds, you just go to the walk in clinic or hospital, and they have to treat you.

The perscriptions aren't free for those without medical but all the rest is.

It's not free, it is considered part of your earnings.
Most likely it is a taxable benefit.

Also not "free", we pay for it with our tax dollars.
But I do love it, it works.
