Quoting: Menow 18943200 "only enough to notice the fact that the sun is setting a few degrees further north." Wrong. ALL SKY OBJECTS would be out of place. They are out of place, they drifted a few degrees north. How is that wrong? You're a shill. ALL sky objects have moved north? That makes no sense at all, and you have provided no evidence at all- just your say-so against the world's astronomers. How droll. Repeat: "...including Polaris, which ANYONE with a camera and tripod can check." Why don't you make a vid showing that Polaris is no longer where it belongs? Easy as pie, unless you are wrong. Well ths is going to sound silly but to me, Orion looked like it was 'higher' in the sky than it used to be (last winter, december 2011 compared to december 2010 for instance). So when I stand on my driveway facing south and have to crane my neck a little more to see it... that would make it more 'North' right? Orion changes location in the sky radically over a few hours. Take an astronomy class. |

WE NOTICE when OUR SHADE changes. My entire north side of house has NO shade anymore in the summer. now go find some other game to play. we are not all idiots who have lived in our homes for 2o or 30 years and know better. The sun is so high still at high noon, my north side is not shaded, until rather recently this summer as the tilt now is moving towards equinox. And the point of equinox was reached about weeks early in March this year. Shadows cast are the best way to determine WHEN equinox it. |

Common sense User ID: 19402471 United States 08/01/2012 03:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First of all, the sun is always moving. We are traveling in orbit around our sun which is being pulled by the center of our galaxy. Secondly, major earthquakes can change the amount of time in a day, so it might also change when the sun sets from previous years. Third, we are sitting on plate tectonics that are moving which would change the position your land is sitting over time. In conclusion, i find it's nothing special if the sun is hitting a part of your property that it wasn't before. |

In the photos you can see that it is not centered as it is in the first photo, as it should be, and was before the change. Also even if it was given that it was always off true north, the long exposure of polaris has a non-linear path in relation to the beginning of the long exposure. Basically it does not meet back where it began. Do some more searches regarding long exposure shots in relation with axial tilt |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18013130 ALL SKY OBJECTS would be displaced, including Polaris, which ANYONE with a camera and tripod can check. Menow, I don't understand what you have to gain by arguing this. What is your agenda? So why is this bothering you so much? I'm puzzled. |
