More: [ link to stackoverflow.com] "It's the downside of compact parts made for phones. A $5000 IMU that we're using right now has an error of +/- 2 degrees and in that range it seems to go crazy as well." Quoting: Menow 1394150 More: [ link to stackoverflow.com] "Now, don't forget that the sensor gives you the bearing to Magnetic North, and not True North!" You said it compensated for local declination. It apparently does not. Quoting: Menow 1394150 I don't know what the guy uses, but: my software compensates local declination not the phone. And there are millions of different phones out there. Do you really believe all of them ar having the same compass hardware? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19016521 Where did I indicate I believe anything like that? Of course it would be the software *IF* there was compensation for declination. From what I found, there have been lots of problems with Android phones and compass accuracy.
