Bluebird is ignorantly and dishonestly shilling on behalf of the military-industrial complex and the Republican Party and you dumbfucks are eating it up, as usual.

sheeplebah

Do you even have a clue that the sequestration process was passed by Congress last August as part of the Budget Control Act to reduce the deficit? That the rethugs agreed to it, tried to break their word so that they could shovel hundreds of billions more tax dollars to the bloated military, and are making it a campaign issue to try to benefit Rawmoney?

Di you stooges understand that cuts are not certain at this stage?

sheeplebah

Fucking idiots....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21065420

No, you are the idiot. At the present the cuts are the law of the land. And you know full well there are going to be massive cuts to the pentagon even if there is another vote on this.

Obama is trying to pay for his give away handouts programs with which he buys votes on the backs of NASA and the military. For the first time we are in the position of having to beg a ride from Russia to even get to the Space Station, a disgarce.
 Quoting: Bluebird

You fucking LIAR!

cruise

It was your asswipe resident Bush who killed any means of getting to the International Space Station, not Obama.

And military cuts are NOT the law of the land!
Not yet, not until Congress hashes it out.

Your beloved rethugs AGREED to those cuts in military spending if real deficit reduction didn't take place but they're not happening yet and may not.

NO, it was Obama who decimated NASA. And he is the one who said he was cutting military spending, no me.

Saying otherwise doesn't make it so. And yes, this is currently the law of the land. Should something be worked out later to makes these cuts less draconian, that would be a good thing. But as of right now, it certainly is the law of the land.

You don't withhold information that effects people's lives based on something congress might or might not do in the future.

There is a reason for the 60 day notice being given to these workers and it is so that they can try to make alternative plans for their livlihood.

I'm sure there would be massive lawsuits if this was not done according to the existing rules and regulations.

Does Obama really expect defense contractors to allow themelves to be exposed to these potential lawsuits in order to conceal the real effects of Obamanomics?

Yep, that's nerve and arrogance all right!

You really need to get in touch with reality.

The almost a trillion flush of money that was the stimulus, his "green jobs" initiatives, Obamacare, and increased regulation are what have killed jobs.

Since the defense jobs are jobs Obama killed - he should get credit.

While it's off topic, I will make one comment on Obama and NASA.

This is what he promised:

Some excerpts from Obama's space speech in August 2008:

"When I was growing up, NASA inspired the world with achievements that we're still proud of...

"Today we have an administration that sets ambitious goals for NASA without giving NASA the support it needs to reach them. As a result, NASA's had to cut back on research, trim their program, which means that after the space shuttle shuts down in 2010, we're going to have to rely on Russian space craft to keep us into orbit.

"So let me be clear: we canot cede our leadership in space. That's why I'm going to close the gap, ensure that our space program doesn't suffer when the shuttle goes out of service. We may extend an additional shuttle launch. We're going to work with Bill Nelson to add at least one flight after 2010 by continuing to support NASA funding, by speeding the development of the shuttle's successor, by making sure that all those who work in the space industry in Florida do not lose their jobs when the shuttle is retired because we cant afford to lose their expertise. But more broadly, we need a real vision for the next stage of space exploration...."

That was his promise but this is what he did:

The 7,000 layoffs at the space center triggered 7,000 more in the community. Unemployment has been close to 11 percent."

Pelley goes on to note that, in 2010, Obama cancelled NASA's Constellation program and "then, Congress dealt another blow, by cutting the funding for the Obama plan in half."

I have no idea where it came from originally. Someone emailed it to me around the time of the Fast and Furious hearings. I thought it was funny and snagged it.

Re: Obama tries to get Defene Contractors to break the law and not tell emoloyees of pending layoffs before election!

Obama HAS supported save manned space programs . . . much more so than Congress or previous presidents. Let's remember, the Shuttle program set to shut down by 2010 (in the VSE announced in 2004). Obama extended it two missions. The Orion/Ares (Constellation program) part of the VSE was failing. Obama cut Constellation, but saved and funded the Orion part (the manned capsule).

Obama has tried shifting the direction of LEO manned flight to private enterprise, but this year Congress only gave him HALF of what he asked for to fund that area of manned flight. Virtually every year he's been in office, he's asked for MORE funding for NASA than (the rethuglican) Congress has been willing to alot. Let's point the finger in the right direction...

NASA's grand plan to return to the moon, built on President George W. Bush's vision of an ambitious new chapter in space exploration, is about to vanish with hardly a whimper. With the release Monday of President Obama's budget request, NASA will finally get the new administration's marching orders, and there won't be anything in there about flying to the moon.

. . . "It means that essentially the U.S. has decided that they're not going to be a significant player in human space flight for the foreseeable future. The path that they're on with this budget is a path that can't work," Griffin said, anticipating the Monday announcement.

No, he hasn't.

The president’s 2013 budget, released today, asks for modest increases for some federal science agencies but trims funding to NASA. The request takes a deep bite out of Mars and outer-planet science exploration in particular.

NASA’s funding would fall to the lowest level in four years, with a total budget of $17.71 billion. The president’s request projects a flat budget through 2017, with no growth to even account for inflation.
“We are having to make tough decisions because these are tough economic times,” said NASA administrator Charles Bolden during a press conference Feb. 13.

As expected, planetary science — in particular Mars exploration and outer-planets missions — is the biggest loser, getting a $309 million decrease compared to last year. This means NASA will not be able to maintain previous commitments to the European Space Agency for dual Mars missions in 2016 and 2018, Bolden confirmed at the conference.
