Holmes beard growth the same

Why is Holmes facial hair the same in his booking shot as in 3 days later when he was charged in court?

HIs 'deranged demeanor' is also the same in the booking shot as well as his first day in court, days later.

Was Holmes so drugged out of his mind on the day of the shooting that they had to wait until he 'came down' from the scopolomine?

The booking shot was taken the same day as the court appearance, and not as is customary at the time of arrest, or shortly there after.
