Asheville, NC...Food Court Chic-fil-a had lunch line down the mall aisle, 1+ hour wait. We didn't get there until 1:30 PM and the lines were still all the way out and down the mall center aisle.

Chick-fil-a location down the street had traffic backed up for miles at lunch. Can only assume it was that way for supper as well.

I was proud to see us take a stand like this! We are definitely the silent majority waiting for a call to arms! The Sleeping Giant is slowly waking up!

What being Christian has to do with this is the following:

It's not like Chik-Fil-A suddenly created a big deal about running their business according to kingdom principles and supporting Christian ideals (which they always have) and capitalized on that. What happened was their donation of free food to an organization that supports traditional marriages made a group of people unhappy and mayors of major cities jumped on board and started trying to deny Chik-Fil-A the right to do business in their areas. Chik-Fil-A didn't have to do a thing. That made a bunch of people pretty mad. It goes against a right to free speech and a right to support whatever legal organization you want to.

There's no manipulation here. People get angry, they act. Chik-Fil-A didn't make those people angry - the mayors did that - all over national news.

The official, actual statement made by Chik Fil A is:

"While we don¹t release exact sales numbers, we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day."

Chik Fil A has 1600 restaurants, mostly in the Southern US states. By contrast, McDonalds has over 30,000 restaurants worldwide. Is anybody really dumb enough to think that 1600 Chik Fil-A shops could outsell McDonald's 30,000 stores?

Here's what happened: Chik Fil-A experienced an isolated surge in sales due to this promotion that will never be repeated. Chik Fil-A set their own record for sales in a single day. They did not set a "world record in fast food sales" by any means other than breaking their own sales record. And, the numbers will never be repeated. Ever.

Ever heard of percentages? If you took single McDs and single CFAs and averaged what each one did in sales that day, you could have a record sales days. CFA couldn't have sold more OVERALL, but they could have sold more PER LOCATION than McDs averaged.

Yes, I've "heard of percentages". The point is, Chik Fil A in their own words announced that they had broken their own daily sales record. Pastor Rick Warren then proceeded to spin this into a sensational headline: "a new world record for fast food sales"

At the very least, he stretched the truth.
But really, he lied. Which I think is a sin, right?

Now, here's something really funny: I went to Chik fil A today(Aug 2). 12:30, the heart of lunchtime.
Walked right up to the counter because there was no crowd. There was three people already eating inside, and a couple of cars in the drive through. at 12:30. Lunch rush!
I had a coupon so I ordered my free chicken sandwich and a cup of water. I asked the kid at the counter about yesterday. He said it was crazy, a lot of really pissy regular customers due to the long lines/wait. He said the restaurant was unable to handle the strain of the crowds, and he saw several regular customers leave without making a purchase. It was slow today he said, probably because some of the regulars hadn't come back, and that the management was somewhat concerned about that. He also told me that store management had strongly suggested that employees invite their friends and family to come out for the promotion.

So, the awesome free ad campaign for Chik Fil A might actually backfire in the long run--they may have lost loyal regular customers. Time will tell.

Im sure they will be fine. Just gotta keep giving them business.

And another thing.....as a Christian I'm going to speak up. If Chick-fila wants to come out and publicly support the Bible, I"m all for it. How about giving out free food for a day to all the hungry people....gays and straights, black and white, purple and blue.

Why? Because the BIBLE says to love all people, and it also says to love them no matter what. It says to feed the hungry, have compassion on the poor.

Or how about paying their employees a real living wage? I remember the Bible says something about that too.

So next time they want to stand up for the Bible, I'm all for it, but do something that sheds a positive light instead of a negative one. I'm not supporting that at all. All this stuff does is push gay people farther and farther away from Jesus. I"m sick of it.

Notice Jesus said "Love your neighbor as yourself". He did not say "Love your neighbor as yourself, unless he's gay".

I am not for homosexuality, and if asked I will tell a person that. I do believe in traditional marriage. But, if you're going to talk about homosexuality, include the other sins in the Bible as well like lying, cheating, stealing, adultery, jealousy, etc........

I don't know anyone who isn't guilty of some kind of sin. Tellin it like it is.
