The 1st world is transitioning to a service/information economy. We simply have too much stuff already. The "Matrix" is actually a marketing program put together by General Electric in the 1970s that slow released features to manufactured product lines. It worked well, and then they included purposefully short failure rates to keep the quarterly numbers up. Think also about consumer electronics, like apple.

We all made too much stuff. recently on GLP there was post about a person wanting to escape from his life. Another poster offered a website showing how parts of depopulated europe want young people to move in. The dry crop farmers harvest the feilds with equipment that does not even need a driver. Much less him living in the villiage, or even needing a person to provide him fuel/dinner.

I spent hours on the site. Lots of villages with historic, beautiful, but quite honestly, dilapidated buildings. Too old to live in, too historic to demolish, but subjectively, not worth years of my life restoring and maintaining.

So, if we are in the information age, lots of it is going to be amoral, slovenly, and in many cases immoral. Think about the jersey shore show, like your big brother. We can not censor, but we can eliminate incentives (Jersey shore got tax credits to put that crap out)
