A raid by Syrian security forces near the capital Damascus killed 43 people, some of whom were tortured and executed, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Thursday.

Turkish Army Holds Drills on Syria Border

Some 25 tanks took part in the exercise in the Nusaybin district of Mardin Province, just two kilometers away from the Syrian border on Wednesday.

A member of Turkey’s parliament says the country’s Hatay Province on the border with Syria has become a hub for CIA and Mossad spies moving into Syria.

The legislator of the Republican People’s Party, Refik Er-Yilmaz, said that thousands of CIA and Mossad agents are currently in the province and are moving freely in the area, Turkish media reported.

An unnamed Arab intelligence official, revealed that American officers are also collecting information on Syrian opposition groups and recruiting informants among their ranks.

The source said the Obama administration is considering sharing its intelligence data, such as satellite images and detailed information on the location and maneuvers of Syrian troops.

According to the source, CIA operatives might be helping the rebels with organizing a rudimentary intelligence organization.

‘NERVE CENTER’

A U.S. government source acknowledged that under provisions of the presidential finding, the United States was collaborating with a secret command center operated by Turkey and its allies.

The notorious US security firm Blackwater has set up military camps in Turkey’s border region with Syria to train armed groups fighting against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

A report published by the Turkish newspaper Idinik said Blackwater agents have been operating at the border area and that the firm’s mercenaries are being deployed to Syria via the Turkish province of Hatay.

Syrian security forces in the western city of Homs have also said that the Israeli spy agency, Mossad, the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and Blackwater are involved in the country’s unrest.

NATO’s Secret Kurdish War: Turkey Prepares Iraq-Style Attacks Inside Syria

The Turkish rationale for the military escalation is that forces of the Democratic Union Party, an ethnic Kurdish group that Ankara accuses of being affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers Party, have assumed control of the Syrian cities of Efrin (Afrin), Kobane and Amude (Amuda) near southeastern Turkey.

The secular, left-wing Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) has been struggling for Kurdish autonomy in Turkey since 1978 and is labelled a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union.

The Turkish government has been waging a counterinsurgency war against the PKK for 28 years in Turkey, and over the past decade in northern Iraq, with the active support of the Pentagon and NATO. In fact, the campaign against Kurdish opposition groups is another, unacknowledged, American and NATO war, one to be added to a growing list that includes Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Libya and now Syria.

The CIA and other US agencies have been given carte blanche to supply intelligence information to the Syrian opposition, sources in the US have disclosed.

The Obama administration has stated publicly that it is providing some "non lethal" backing for Assad's opponents – including $25 million set aside for assistance this week – but the sharing of intelligence had not been known.

According to the source, the order has allowed US agents to work closely with a clandestine command centre based in Turkey, believed to be in Adama, a city 60 miles from the Syrian border. Incirlik, a US airbase, is also in the city.
