I think the idea that you cannot get a bomb inside the closing ceremonies are mad.

I have been to two different venues so far.

At Wimbledon, there was a huge army presence. A point to note here was that not all of the soldiers were British! This was a shock.

Based on the metal detector machines that I saw, around a third were not working. I am very used to going through them and I walked through one which was not working for sure. It was not even turned on. Next up - there are no person searches. So you can carry pretty much whatever you want on your person.

The second venue was Wembley and the security there consisted of someone rubbing their hands on the inside of your legs and under your arms. I felt for the guy. I made a comment about him doing it and he clearly didnt really want to be doing it. I guess the UK has not released all of the sickos from prison to staff the olympics security in the way that the US has released them for the TSA.

What strikes me though, is that you have such horrible things happening to bankers currently. Plus some pretty awful things to happen (LIEbor is only just getting going and is only the start). So any blasts would be a lot more beneficial if they were very powerful and they were able to remove certain documents that may also be within a couple of miles of the olympic stadium. So - Canary Wharf (HSBC) to Olympic stadium is not too must distance. The only question is what sort of device could destroy both. Given the proximity to the thames, a tidal wave could work, but again - i am just speaking some simple thoughts.

No idea whether anything will happen. I prey that it will not as much as I prey that 2012 can pass without any un-necessary bloodshed. But we do not always get what we prey for.

All i know, is that i will continue to use my tickets and enjoy the time that I have in this existence. The moment you consider not doing something just in case is the point in time when you may as well turn on the tv and become a zombie that would buy chewing gum just because some guy gets it on with a fitter female than you have ever catched on some stupid ad.
