I must say, I'm a bit confused by your post.
In the early days of the new world, did not the French own as much land as the British? Did not the French have slaves?
America became a country in 1776, slavery ended in 1865. Not exactly 200 years is it? The slaves were already here when America became a country, their ancesters brought here by French and British slave traders.
Go away and take your guilt trip someplace else Frenchie.
