Ok but asteroids and the moon are in a balance. When the body runs out of the moon, which is the balance of the entire system ceases to exist. In this case, you can not predict anything.

Nasa had predicted it would pass at 1.5 million miles when itn fact it came much closer at 963,000 miles

1.5 million is the figure in kilometers. Closer to 1.55 million, which is indeed 693,000 miles.
