The goal of those who perpetrated this attack is to drive a wedge into the Camp David peace accords between Egypt and Israel, one implication of which was the demilitarization of Sinai by Egypt. While Hamas and Morsi are set up as victims and antagonists of this attack there are elements within both camps which will be played in to the aftermath and who may have had a part in instigating.
