I'd say he's anything but friendly to gun rights. His stance on the issue through his first term is more a matter of political expediency than anything else. He knows that if he comes out in favor of increased gun restrictions that he's likely to lose the election. His fellow Democrats in the House and Senate know it, too, and they know it'll probably cost them their jobs as well.

That's the real reason why they haven't pushed anything.

People are buying guns and ammo in record numbers because they are afraid of Obama, not because Obama is pro-second amendment. Obama would ban then all if he could, but he can't and he knows it so he works "behind the scenes" to use his own words.

Obama could ban them if he wanted...but he won't.

He gets his way even with millions os civilian gun owners owning hudreds of millions of guns!

if you were a shooting enthusiast you would recognize the current trends. Lately a lot of guns are being manufactured in .22 lr form.

for those who don't get it, a .22lr is the smallest bullet commonly made. There is a .22 short but these are not nearly as common as a .22 long.

so a lot of rifles are being manufactured in .22lr form. But why? It is because ammunition is presently at it's most expensive, ever. People are having a hard time affording the $.50 .223's, so they are turning to a $.03 .22lr for cheap fun.. So you can get AR clones, AK clones, MP5 clones, uzi clones, 1911 clones, etc....

if you read the current high capacity magazine ban that is in the cybersecurity bill you will notice one thing: .22lr magazines are exempt!

let me repeat that, .22lr magazines are specifically mentioned to be exempt. Why make the distinction? Ever think about it?

it's because the plan is, and always has been, to take the guns out of the hands of the people, but leave them with their non-lethal, .22lr's.

those high power guns that are taken will be sold to various, non-US governments, organizations and groups around the world. As well as provided to a new national security force, with strength to match the military.. All free of cost.

and the hope is that the people won't resist too badly because they get to keep their AR look-a-like with it's high capacity magazine.. But a .223 going against a .22lr at 300 yards is no contest at all.

It's a gradual process. He could easily create legislation to make it harder and harder to purchase guns and ammo....but he doesn't.

Therefore...

You have it backwards. President's don't "allow" gun ownership. Government in general is prevented from infringing on the right to keep and bear arms.

If a president is gun friendly, there is little concern and thus little change in buying habits. If a president is strongly anti-gun, there is fear that gun rigts could be infringed upon and thus buying habits are stimulated. People are buying more guns because they are afraid of Obama, not because he is or even can limit their ability to buy them all by himself. He just can't do that by himself.

Its not like you'd need to be. Obama has stated numerous times that he'd like to institute 'common sense' gun restrictions, whatever those may be. And Eric Holder was talking about a new AWB within a month of Obama taking office back in '09. It didn't happen because most of the so-called blue dog Democrats in the House wouldn't back it this time around, because they would likely lose their jobs.

Absolutely. A major part of Holder's reason for backing an assault weapons ban in the US is to curb violence in Mexico.

Perhaps all this dribble about people being afraid of Obama is actually a result of genius marketing by the gun manufacturing industry. Sales are soaring. Gun manufacturers are absolutely loving this president

Watching WalMart place artificial restrictions on ammo. Watching twitchy gun advocates twirling around in circles in Walmart aisles decrying the president. Watching those same fear-loaded people willing to pay anything, go anywhere to get their hands on guns, ammo, ordnance magazines...and clamoring to pay anything to get same. God, this is the best, most successful marketing promotion I have ever seen. Honestly...there are those who will stand in line and pay inflated prices for product stacked up on shelves in the warehouse. These guys are paying for my cheap toilet paper. I guess I should be thanking them...but I'd have to break up the church service they're having over in sporting...I guess I have to respect religion.

His electoral college wanted a faster way to pass legislation without any disagreement or disparage, or Obama actually wants to legalize Marijuana.
