Safely repels gophers and moles, $12.95 for a set of 12.

I know your gonna get your gopher but in case not a gardeners magizine came in my mail today. gardeners.com

Here is the schpeel.

Gopher and mole repeller pegs contain a mix of soybean oil and garlic. When dropped down a hole, they "blast" the animal's tunnel with an offensive smell that drives them away. blah blah blah Each peg lasts 10 to 12 months blah blah blah

I bet you could just buy garlic.

But in the meantime I think you need bait.

Sorry to leave you all hanging... Got him!

Gave up on the stakeout method and just checked the area several times a day. I walked back there yesterday morning without the pellet rifle and there he was by his hole checking me out. I stood there for a minute and even moved a little to see his reaction. He watched me a little more and calmly walked into his hole. I knew then I was gonna get that bastard!

I checked back a few minutes later with rifle in hand and he was out again, but ran in his hole immediately. Dammit! How'd he know?

Maybe a half hour later checked again... No gopher. I was about to head back and thought "Well I'll just sight the scope at his hole and see if he's there." Sure enough he was poking his head out sniffing around. I didn't hesitate. A second went by and I put one into the side of his head right under his ear. He was done for immediately. I put another round thru the top of his head just to be sure he was dispatched humanely.

For those who were scoffing at my use of a pellet gun...I probably didn't even need to put a second round in him. Just wanted to be sure it was quick just in case. He didn't even run just dropped where he was.

.22 cal hollow point pellet at about 850 fps was more than sufficient.

The cold blooded quote was from the Fifth Element, Gary Oldman, didn't mean to imply you liked killing the beast, just making a little crack. I have been in the same place as you before, it really is no fun. But the peace of mind you have after taking care of a pesky problem is great.

You may think I''m joking but I'm serious:

Eat that groundhog when you get him. They's some good vittles. Skin & gut the varmint, roll him in flour and then pan fry. Best when served with some mashed potatoes. Don't forget to deglaze the pan and make some kick ass groundhog gravy.

Some people look down on eating varmints and such but I ain't too proud to have some groundhog. It's good for yuns.

I thought the gopher had won. tounge

You always make me laugh or smile and your humane way of handling the little guy is no exception.

I guess it has to be done sometimes. I'm very glad you were compassionate about it.

hi

I hope it's over. I stuffed the burrow openings with leaves so I'll know if another shows up. I'm pretty sure the first time I saw one it was a different one. Had different fur color than this one.

Oh and how do you take out a coyote?
