I saw it a couple days ago... Definitely a groundhog.

And as far as the pellet gun it fires .22 cal hollow point pellets at +800fps. I sighted it in to 1/4" group at about 15 yards. A headshot will take him out.

I'd prefer to use the higher firepower I have... Just can't do so in this area.

I'm gonna get him Windy... Some way some how.

I just put cat turds down my garden vole holes. Followed it with water to moisten the turd and hopefully move it closer to their living quarters.

It's a bonus if they're floaters!

Why would you shoot him if you could easily shoo him away without great effort or costs? Groundhogs have families too.

It's quite simple, really. If I were just to shoo him away he'd be back the next day because my booming vegetable garden is a prime source of readily available food for him.

Stay away from any bullet >1000 fps. Makes a loud telltale crack of a rifle.

Yeah i referred to that type of trap earlier in the thread. I called it the "get yer gun" trap.

If all else fails I'll revert to that method. Gotta protect my veggies!

I'm rooting for the groundhog. Think you should try a fence before you kill a living thing. Its just trying to survive like the rest of us.

If you read the thread you'd see it is fenced... It's a groundhog... They dig. They tear up your yard/field with tunnels. Nasty overgrown rodents.

Ask any farmer if they'd be willing to consider coexisting with groundhogs. They'll tell you to go hug a tree.

I like beer and a pellet gun. My daughter had a pellet gun and I could never make it work. She kept it under the seat in my car. She took my car when she wanted to shoot it I guess. I forgot it was there.

Years later my brother had my car detailed and it was found. He said it was almost a concealed weapon. :) I said, you can have it.
