And don't let them see your pellet gun unless you can pass it off for a .22. They might know that groundhogs aren't nocturnal creatures and a pellet gun won't likely kill it. You probably have a possum. I saw it a couple days ago... Definitely a groundhog. And as far as the pellet gun it fires .22 cal hollow point pellets at +800fps. I sighted it in to 1/4" group at about 15 yards. A headshot will take him out. /edit to add/ I'd prefer to use the higher firepower I have... Just can't do so in this area. I'm taking a six pack and a .22 pellet rifle (gotta keep it quiet) gonna wait him out. Quoting: Stealth521 I'll be updating with my phone which things are being eaten in your garden? if its vegetables - have you considered it might be TSA confiscating them ? |

Groundhogs have families too. Schopenhauer said that every stupid boy can crush a bug, but all professors in the world cant build one. Think about it for a second. |

Groundhogs have families too. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21330540 Schopenhauer said that every stupid boy can crush a bug, but all professors in the world cant build one. Think about it for a second. It's quite simple, really. If I were just to shoo him away he'd be back the next day because my booming vegetable garden is a prime source of readily available food for him. I'm defending my food source. |

And even if, there are long-term working methods to keep them away. I doubt they are more expensive than bullets. 90% of the topics on this page are about the injustice in the relation between the superior and the inferior. You owe that groundhog being creative first and supress your trigger-happyness. |

Think you should try a fence before you kill a living thing. Its just trying to survive like the rest of us. Quoting: telling it straight If you read the thread you'd see it is fenced... It's a groundhog... They dig. They tear up your yard/field with tunnels. Nasty overgrown rodents. Ask any farmer if they'd be willing to consider coexisting with groundhogs. They'll tell you to go hug a tree. |

WindyMind User ID: 7244814 United States 08/05/2012 11:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I like beer and a pellet gun. My daughter had a pellet gun and I could never make it work. She kept it under the seat in my car. She took my car when she wanted to shoot it I guess. I forgot it was there. Years later my brother had my car detailed and it was found. He said it was almost a concealed weapon. :) I said, you can have it. |
