This cold be a nice moment for some introspection.

Anybody's watched the latest episode of The Newsroom. It's titled '5/1' which is the date of the mission that supposedly got Bin Laden killed.

Here's a simple question: as one watches that episode, fully aware of the real circumstances of 9/11, Bin Laden's true fate, and the actual events that took place on that 'historical' mission, what do you think one feels?

Pity for the mislead masses? Disgust with the sheeple?

Nope. What one feels is the pride to be an American. 'The land of the free, the home of the brave.'

That was one fuckingly and absolutely brilliant mental and emotional manipulation. Almost reminds me of Colbert's crafty art of emotional mimicry and deception. Note that I'm not talking about the actual PR stunt with Obama's 'Bil Laden's been killed' announcement on 5/1. I am talking about the show here. That stuff is worth gold!

People won't believe those who tell them the truth, but they will believe those who make them feel good. People are such suckers for pleasant emotions. Live and learn, I guess.

Speaking of which... what was that '3X33' and '22 blocks away' all about?
