| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20847355 08/06/2012 10:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The last thing we want is Labour to get more seats and cock up the Country even more than they did with Blair and his cronies! Quoting: minkey53 I agree somewhat... I dont particulary like the conservatives, but i like labour and the lib dems even less. I'm UKIP now, but if i had to vote Conservative to keep labour out i would do. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20847355 The problem UKIP have is that they are still seen as a one issue party by most people, even though they're not really. They polled 14% nationally recently. Thats strong, yeah they don't have any seats but that's because the support is spread around the country and not concentrated... which is a better long term outlook for the stability and gains of the party. What i expect is a smear campaign if they get any stonger as they are picking up the haemorrhaging voters from all parties, labour, conservative, lib dem. A lot of people are sick of politically correct, overspending, immigration supporting, corrupt big business corporate shill career politicians. UKIP are now the alternative party that the Lib Dems were. UKIP, might be a bag of complete shit, but im willing to give them a chance, im sick of labour and the conservatives. They cant fuck the country up anymore than its been fucked up over the past 25 years. |

That poll was an outlier though, most I've seen have them at around 8%. I doubt that 14% nationally would give them even one seat. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20847355 Nawh, even in the recent local elections this year they were at an average 13% ( Taken from the Guardian [ /politics/2012/may/04/ukip-farage-local-election-results ]- Cant link as GLP wont link Guardian sources ) In some of the boroughs they came in 2nd place, most of them they came 3rd. Admittedly most of the 2nd place results were narrow margins over labour/con and thousands of votes behind the winners, but its still strong. But yes you are right, you get nothing for second place, and 14% national average wont win you shit, but thats a strong position, if they can hit 20% national average that will be enough to start winning seats in a general, which i think is a given next election. |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 9977516 08/06/2012 11:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Maybe British music peeps with links to the music industry have inside info that something is doing down. Coincidentally, Liam Gallagher from Oasis just purchased a condo in New York after saying he'd never live in the U.S in a million years... Hmmmm..... |
| Anonymous Coward User ID: 20847355 08/06/2012 11:41 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | True, but UKIP historically has done better in generals, last local excluding, and are doing better and better each time we have a vote... but it would also be true that they wont win in the election as that will likely be Labour/Con or another hung Parliament. They may pick up some shock seats though. Nobody is considering what if UKIP takes the Lib Dems place as the third biggest party officially by winning some boroughs and forms a coalition with the conservatives on the grounds they give the UK a referendum on europe and some other terms. Its a slight possibility as the lib dems might not get enough seats to form a coalition with the conservatives and labour/con might not win outright. Nobody can deny the Lib Dems are in a weak position. It only takes UKIP getting a couple of dozen seats which the conservatives need and a few defections and its a hung parliament again. |

Quoting: lightchild_uk I thought is was important as labour will probably regain the seat and it could be a huge blow for the coalition government. She took Corby... You gotta be kidding me? Losing Corby would be a blow to the coalition? Have you ever been there..? Yeah, Labour will win the by-election easily. Does anyone really give a shit? A politician's a politician. Sames lies, different coloured rosette. Exactly + this is GLP not Sky, get a life OP or at least go educate yourself a little. |
| lightchild_uk (OP) User ID: 5449533 08/06/2012 12:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I posted this because I thought it was interesting. Corby was always a strong labour seat with the Scottish steel workers. When the steelworks were closed most of the people blamed the Conservative government at the time and Labour maintained their stronghold. Many of the steel men have since died of old age and Corby has had a lot of growth and investment over the past 30 years. They plan on doubling the size of Corby over the next few decades, many people are moving into Corby and new industries, especially from the South East and London with the new rail link. So for the first time the Conservative win the seat by a narrow margin. Since then many Tory voters feel disillusioned by the coalition government and especially the PM. The seat will probably go back to Labour, though even many Labour supporters are sick of their party after Tony Blair. I cannot see anything improving with the economy very soon and I feel them losing this minor seat could be a tipping point for the current leadership and could lead to a vote of no confidence. But I do understand which ever path / party we take they all go in the same direction. |

Quoting: lightchild_uk Oh fuck. Cameron is Neville Chamberlain and Borris Johnson is the next Churchill. We are in the 1930's again. It was a Conservative - Liberal Party coalition government when WW2 happened too. |
