Here is an idea why they might be faking/staging this if they are....

think of all that they have done are doing and where the world is now.

We are on the edge of World war three, plagues, Radiation polluting the earth, the weather, no peace, the money system [they say is broken] is turning to cashless with a turn to a one world order....but the world don't want just anyone running their world...so it has to be someone they know is different from everyone else on earth or else they will be rejected.
....so they use the Star trek type of idea... Alien’s watching, see we have reached a stage in space travel that they can now reveal themselves to us and also bring us into a fake peace...
