The NICS is a national system that checks available records on persons who may be disqualified from receiving firearms. The FBI developed the system through a cooperative effort with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and local and state law enforcement agencies. [link to www.fbi.gov] So it looks like the Department of Justice will now be involved, I wonder if they will be able to make the final determination or what their role will be. |

I've been thinking since all this government shitting on the 2nd amendment ,why are'nt people who want to own guns (and already have legal guns) just go out find blackmarket guns, buy some, and turn in the legal ones when 'they' come knocking? At least the law abiding gun owning citizens won't be left defenceless...Ya know as in - what the govt. don't know ya got-they don't know. After seeing that Aussie vid yesterday about their crime rate raising since banning guns there, if I were a gun owner I wouldn't be left defenceless to the criminals who have illegal guns. |

I do not know the laws for private party gun purchases in other states... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 997890 Are you allowed to purchase without a permit in Texas? Like I said, it really sounds like a states issue but they're making it into a federal one now. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21379686 Four words for all of you: "GUN SHOW" and "PRIVATE SALE" Most states allow for legal unpapered firearms transactions via a private sale. Ask if they are a private seller; if so, game on. No paperwork is needed for long guns in most states, and in some handguns can be purchased privately. Check your state laws. Almost all the people I know who have guns have two collections; a small one that they filled out ATF yellow forms and a larger one that was purchased legally and privately. |

Department Of Justice will "enhance security", improved background checks for guns until Congress passes gun laws President Obama’s spokesman blamed Congress for the lack of stronger gun control legislation and promised that the Justice Department would improve background checks to enhance security. Quoting: Laura Bow The president’s approach is that we should work with Congress when possible and administratively when allowed,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters when asked about strengthening gun control laws — laws that must respect Second Amendment rights, he said. ... In the meantime, Carney said, the Justice Department will “enhance security by making it harder for those who should not have these weapons to obtain them” through improved background checks. More at [link to washingtonexaminer.com] Oh the irony. Those bastards have killed more people with guns than almost all of American citizens have combined. Yet they are going to say who and who cannot get a gun? Holy shit. Let me guess.... if you are white, ex military, have Tatoos, and are a tea party person, you are fucked? Wake the fuck up folks. They want to take our weapons away, but they are ARMING the DRUG CARTELS right on the other side of the fence. Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?...
