Gundersen: There’s some good science out about rapid mutations in insects.

Insects are relatively radiation resistant compared to human beings.

So, yeah, it is frightening.

And of course, if it’s in the human gene poll, it will be 2 or 3 generations before it completely manifests itself.

I liked the video in this article, I didn't know about the screw Nevada bill.

Bakersfield CA at 450 cpm

And Louisville KY at 650 cpm see chart below

Harrisonburg VA 650-700 cpm

Kearney, Lincoln and Omaha are spiking (normal is low) and Omaha stopped reading but it might not be turned off.

There are others that I pass by, I am just looking (mostly) at what is happening now that looks high...today.

I wonder if there is a nuclear plant near Louisville, KY?

"Even though there are earthquake faults in Kentucky, I believe it is feasable to build nuclear plants there." That is in the article below. It's the New Madrid Fault

[link to www.kentucky.com]

Part of Kentucky lies atop the New Madrid Fault, which has spawned powerful earthquakes. But news reports suggest last week's massive tsunami did more damage at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station than the earthquake that preceded it, Leeper said.

"We don't get tsunamis in Kentucky," he said.

In 1984, Kentucky placed a moratorium on the construction of nuclear power plants in the state until the federal government approved a permanent disposal facility for the nation's nuclear waste. That has not happened.

Lawmakers said they were reacting to leaks and other environmental problems at Maxey Flats, a radioactive waste site in Fleming County. About 4.7 million cubic feet of radioactive waste was buried at Maxey Flats from 1963 until the site closed in 1977. The state spent years afterward trying to properly secure the site.

State Sen. Robin Webb, D-Grayson, said she consistently votes against Leeper's nuclear power bills because she grew up near Maxey Flats and, as a lawyer, has represented one of the workers injured there.

Maxey Flats is 45 miles from Louisville

Before the age of nuclear technology, cancer of any kind of all was known and accepted to be a VERY rare disease.

Now practically everyone in some regions of the US and Canada, you know who you are by the effects, are affected by cancer.

Usually I just google EPA Radnet Alexander Higgins. There was a little spiff on this blog about it not being right somehow because (I don't know how it works) Alexender makes money every time the link is clicked...I don't know.
Anyway this is how the EPA used to show radiation until around the time that Ft. Calhoun was flooding and then you could not get information for a while and it came back in a new way which is (for me) hard to understand. Somehow Alexander has put it up as it was origionally in the easy to understand format.

One day I was looking at it and there was some kind of blog on the page about his EPA information and getting money for clicks. A poster said "I am going to turn you in, how much money do you make for each click?"

Right under that I posted, not really understanding the problem, "Don't you do it! This is the only place I can get Radnet information that I can understand!" I thought my threat would work because the previous poster is one of my bestest friends. The Radnet did get taken off for about a week at which time I thought "I should have called him on the phone." Maybe someone else did it though. But it came back so.........It doesn't cost me anything for him to get a click......blah, blah

They used to show Carlsbad NM and I was like don't pay attention to that because that is where we store our nuclear waste. It's always bad.

I was thinking about Pierre SD and it's high radiation levels and I found this.

Secret National Sacrifice Area

[link to www.defendblackhills.org]

5. In 1972, President Richard Nixon signed an Executive Order in secret declaring this four-state region of the country to be a "National Sacrifice Area" for the mining and production of uranium and nuclear energy.

It sounds like the screw Nevada bill.

I suppose it is possible that the radiation network is telling the truth and the EPA is just trying to scare the hell out of everybody.
 Quoting: WindyMind

Even if their information is correct, Radiation Network is based on a totally incorrect method of measuring risk.

Radiation Network simply measures radiation levels,
whereas the EPA has HEPA filters to filter fallout material from the air. I am not sure but the EPA might take this reading from air filters into account in their beta readings.

What Fukushima and other reactors are releasing is NOT radiation. What they are releasing are radioactive isotopes.

Radiation is light or just like light. It is here at its moment, and then it is gone, it no longer exists.

Radioactive isotopes on the other hand emit radiation, usually for very long periods of time, and if they are ingested into the body they can damage local cell tissue and seed cancers.

At the following link, if you scroll down to the first image and accompanying text about 2/3rds down the page you will see the images of the range of effect of a microscopic particle of plutonium in lung tissue.

[link to www.nuclearcrimes.org]

Particles like this of plutonium will probably not even register a change on a simple environmental reading of radiation on a Geiger counter, until the level of contamination is way beyond safe levels.

A common Geiger counter wont even register the radiation from a speck of of alpha emitters like Uranium, or Plutonium, or Thorium until it is a very short distance, like an inch away, and the air could be full of these materials and hardly register an extra cpm click on the Geiger counter.

That is why these releases of radioactive isotopes are generally of little risk as long as they remain outside of the body, but if little pollen sized specks are ingested into the body they pose a serious long term cancer risk.

I believe that the EPA at least started as an organization that was truly interested in the health of the public, and many employees of the EPA still might feel that way. That was probably the culture that their testing procedures, of testing air filters, developed from.

However with rising man-made radioisotopes in the environment, which seemingly nobody can prevent, not even the politicians (or so they think), then there are probably political forces which would want to either prevent the EPA from testing correctly, or hide their data from the public.

In these modern times the testing procedure of Radiation Network is mostly irrelevant and does not for the most part reveal risk of radio-isotopes, and if it does then the health risk is already far higher than small changes in background radiation may reveal. Background radiation is not that big of a deal to some extent, people can tolerate quite a lot to some extent, as measured on a geiger counter.

Besides, such a so called citizen network could have been founded and run by any organization with any interest in mind, for all we know, but their very premise of how to test is patently deceptive concerning the nature risks that people face.
 Quoting: ehecatl

I got to it finally.

It would basically change everything. What is that something? Steward Udall, the head lawyer for the plaintiffs in Allen, told a Congressional panel in 1981 that the government possessed a "kind of unwillingness" to admit that "radiation is dangerous."44

Radiation is dangerous.

The United States government will not admit this even though many of her citizens are dying from the radiological abuses it wreaked upon them - and this is precisely why history will repeat itself unless her citizens rise up and rectify this and other related destructive tendencies of their own government.

If it makes any sense I bought my geiger counter from radiation network maybe even Tim and it almost always matches radiation networks readings.

Makes you wonder........

I am mailing it to Omaha soon because it isn't doing me much good. I am sending it to a mechanic that takes out 10 to 14 air filters out every month.

He is going to check those and he said he wanted to take it down by the river.

I made a request that he drive over to Ft. Calhoun and he said he would.

We will see......maybe it's a bad geiger counter but it is supposed to be a good one. The inspector.....:)

And after that I think I will mail it to a friend in Michigan as he would like to play scientist with it and do a lot of experiments.

Since your post I have thought about not being able to get the bateries out of it and having turned it off and taped the switch so it wouldn't accidentally turn on in the mail. I don't want it to be thought of as a bomb or anything so I am going to unpackage it and try to get the batteries out. :) So the package is going to be delayed maybe.

Do you know a Tim at RN? Your kidding right?

Starting with communities along the Grand River in the northern part of the state, the report shows radioactive pollution entering the Missouri River at the mouth of the Grand River. Following that path to the Lower Brule Reservation, the tests also show radioactive contamination in household drinking water. In Yankton, the results taken from the Municipal Building, show the uranium is coming from man-made sources.

I haven't thought about where my cancer came from. I spent a lot of time at the river near Yankton. It's probably coincidence, you can't usually tell where you got it.

I sort of think that any major lawsuit against the government or the military can an will be taken care of by controlling the judge or judges.

Of course they will not admit to it! It's cancer, remember we have no "cures' and only sketchy information on what causes it! But lots of "research to look into it"! There is NO BETTER WAY to kill you off, the lawyers cannot make the case! Cancer is out there, deal with it! They will NEVER give the lawyeras access to cancer suits! Look at asbestos! They will not repeat THAT error!

I heard there is a judicial review board about agent orange. Something about the judges all ruling against it. Of course by now most of those people are dead.

Agent orange was in use and causing future problems when I was 15 years old. I am now 58. Do the math. You will certainly have the same response that I have as to how far we can trust our "Government". We are DOOMED!

I am agreeing with that. Yes, it is 40 years later. We have an illusion of what our government is, Or did have an illusion. I didn't know that some issues were decided above the judges, I didn't know that........I thought the judges decided. What do you call a government that detains you indefinitely before you commit a crime or for whatever reason they want with no trial? What is the name of the government that has politicians that try to get you to hate others and like them. That make elections a big show? Is this communism? It's not democracy.

Technically, it might be called facism, but does it really matter what it is called if, it IS is evil?

I am just curious, a long time ago my dad warned me that the US might become communist or agree to a new government. He said communist because that was the feared type of the government back then. I hate to see what he said would happen after the banks failed happen. He thought we stood a chance if everyone stood their ground.

The dominating presence of the giant green ant traces the relationship between recent nuclear events in Japan to uranium mining in Australia. In 1970, a large deposit of Uranium was discovered in Nabarlek in the Northern Territory, only metres from a sacred Aboriginal site known as Gabo Djang (the Dreaming Place of the Green Ants). The Kuwinjku people made a land claim to preserve the area. According to traditional story, if the ants’ eggs were disturbed, dire misfortune would result. Despite this, Uranium mining began in 1978 and was subsequently sold to several countries including Japan.

Geiger counters have been selling like popsicles in summer, and traffic has never been higher at websites that display data from radiation monitoring stations

In the column to the right of this article are other articles about radiation.

A Japanese supermarket chain, Maruetsu measured cesium from pistachio imported from U.S. Interesting that radiation food monitoring in Japan found cesium in pistachios from America.

Sampled by: Maruetsu (Japanese Supermarket)

Test Date: August 11, 2012 Link [link to www.maruet]

If this is true how can we know the radiation came from Fukushima. We did a lot of atomic tests.

There are other articles about finding radiation in pistachios mostly grown in California. Of course if this is true it is from Japan, of course.
