In the video the op posted, he claims the richer scale has been changed by -1.
Just wondered why? If true!

That bit of woo is a lie.R. ^^^ This ^^^ The MMS (Moment magnitude scale, Mw) was introduced in 1979 because the Richter scale saturates at the upper end of the scale (EQ >M8) and gives no accurate resultes with EQ epicenter distance >600km. In general for medium and strong EQ (>6) the MMS gives greater numbers, only in rare cases the MMS number is smaler than the Richter number (~ 0.2 - 0.3).
