Foveras/Insertuserfunnyname - what is the general opinion of the Greek people regarding the Euro?

Are they wanting to maintain the current situation for much longer or do you think the mood is changing and the people are having enough with the cuts imposed by the EU?

Are the Greek people divided? I've heard its much worse in Athens and the cities then the rural areas - due to more public sector job cuts/pension cuts in these areas?

Would you prefer to go back to the Drachma - have a couple of years of upheaval but then hopefully start to recover with a new currency that will enable tourism to prosper due to the cheap value to the Drachma relative to the Euro/Sterling/Dollar and the reduction in your exports?

People in general don't care much about what currency they'll use. They just want a decent living. Euro supporters are getting less day by day. There is a sentimental connection to the euro and the EU in general, as to belong to something big in Europe. Regardless what people in the EU think, cost of life doubled and tripled in Greece the last 10 years, since we got in the euro and quality of life fell by 65-70%. The rich here got more rich with it and the poor even poorer. People itk support the return to drachma, it makes sense from a financial and economic strategy perspective coz with the situation as it is now it's cheaper for Greece to import food and fruits from Germany than to exploit/produce her own. Production costs have skyrocketed here. Situation is much worse in big cities indeed, countryside doesn't face many problems coz life is cheaper there. We haven't seen the full effect of the cuts imo, but it will be more felt after the summer when the tourist sector employees will be looking for temporary winter jobs again.
