In capitalism, the worker creates the wealth through his labor but that labor is exploited by the capitalist class. This is theft from the working class and serves as a disincentive to work, because the laborer will only receive a small portion of the fruits of his labor. Private ownership of land and capital is theft of the commons. If workers collectively owned the means of production, they could benefit from the full value of their labor.

Re: Congress Set To Take Food Aid Away From Millions Of Hungry Americans!
It doesn't make much sense from an economic standpoint. For every dollar currently spent on welfare, it generates about $1.50 in economic activity in the US. Welfare dollars are nearly all spent domestically and locally. I'm not saying we should make welfare bigger, because there are bound to be diminishing returns, but currently, Welfare is one of the few ways our government spends money that is actually decent stimulus on the economy. It certainly works better than tax breaks and corporate welfare for companies that ship jobs and money overseas. And it is a HELL of a lot better than all the money we are wasting fighting pointless wars in places where we have no business being. Especially since we won't EVER get anything out of doing it.

Do we have more oil for fighting wars in the middle east? No. Did we get anything out of fighting wars in Africa or Asia in the last 50 years either? Nothing. Spend that money at home and quit sending our brave young men to die in some shithole that has nothing to do with us for people who hate us. Once we pull out of those countries, we just leave governments, regimes, and terrorist organizations who want nothing more than to make our lives more difficult. We either need to stop bothering, or go all the fuck out and carpet bomb the countries until they surrender and become a territory under our control.

I feel bad for the OLD and poor children that will be effected with this... but ive seen people buy steaks, shrimp, name brand foods all on EBT cards...

we currently have in this country:

15,000,000 receiving welfare 131.9 billion dollars a year.

8,750,000 receiving Disability payments more then population of 30 states dont even know what that comes out to.

And we are not in a recession?

If we had bread lines instead of EBT (USA flag) like the 1920's we would see people lined up for miles to collect food!!!!!!

But yes the working ones seem to get F-ed in the end!

Decent countries ensure all their people have food and health care. Shitty countries don't. Are we a decent country, or a shitty one? Everyone should have enough to eat in this country, yes, even lazy people, criminals, addicts, etc. EVERYONE.

Food that makes you fat is cheaper than healthy food. Anyone who has ever gone to a grocery store can tell you that. Plus, the corporations force that crap on us by adding all sorts of artificial flavors and ingredients to make that stuff addictive.

Go ahead, try and cut the amount of sodium and sugar in your diet for a couple weeks down to the level people consumed in the 19th century. Try and cut out the processed carbs and weird fats. You will be going through withdrawal in no time. The food most Americans eat is good for making you feel full and making your taste buds satisfied, but it isn't good for giving you the energy to stay healthy and motivated. People eat that crap and have less and less energy, then sit around and get fatter while their thyroids and livers stop working, or they become diabetic.

The fact is that minimum wage is the only work available in many areas. You cannot feed a family on minimum wage and pay for housing, utilities, etc.

Many people who had decent careers are now reduced to flipping burgers.

The responses you are getting arise from one or more of 1)sadism 2) slave envy 3) pignorance

The people who lost everything are crime victims. Our leaders have conspired to kill the middle class. Its sadistic to be gleeful over a family going hungry who's only fault is not being lucky enough to miss one of the bullets aimed straight at the society

Even many people who are so called "lazy" are victims of the food supply being poisoned, vaccines, fluoride in the water, etc.

"This makes no sense from a humanitarian point of view or from an economic one."

If conservatives and "moderates" of both parties get their way in the 2012 Farm Bill now winding its way through Congress, America's recession is about to get a whole lot worse for poor people. In the hallowed name of deficit reduction, the House Agriculture Committee is proposing cuts of up to $16 billion from federal food stamps (a Senate version would cut $4.5 billion) - even as they protect billions in crop insurance for large-scale farmers and insurance corporations.

What will this radical excising mean, both for America's poor and the economy at large?

The answer is both simple and multilayered. The costs of these cuts will be immediate and long-term, felt palpably in people's stomachs and throughout the "lower tiers" of the economy - the rungs of poverty and hunger inhabited by at least 48 million Americans (not counting millions more who qualify for food stamps but have not accessed them).

Start with this: the proposed cuts to food stamps (known as SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) would eliminate food aid for 2 to 3 million low-income people, "mostly low-income working families with children and seniors," according to the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP). These cuts will "literally take food away from hungry people," warned Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., after the House Agriculture Committee earlier this month rebuffed his attempt to prevent them.

What I recently learned: When single mothers who are on welfare and foodstamps marry, they retain their benefits. The husband's salary is a non issue and the free medical care continues as well. Not true in the slightest. If you make over the amount for full benefits, they deduct the additional amount you make from the full benefits amount. In other words, for every dollar you make over the amount you can make up to for full benefits, you get 1 dollar less in benefits. If your aunt made a dollar less, she would have gotten 1 dollar in food stamps. Take your race baiting elsewhere.

It's the title from the article... if you have a problem, go blame Sott.net, they are the one who chose that title, I'm simply passing along NEWS. Stop shooting the messenger.

Secondly, know your facts. you CAN NOT buy cigarretes or alcohol on food stamps. Actually, you can't even buy toilet paper with it. Some people, illegally trade their food stamps value for other goods, to other people... there are always ways around the system, those that do that are being resourceful I suppose. It does not represent the majority.

People make assumptions far too easily. There are so many people on food stamps, believe me, you get ALL TYPES. Don't be so quick to judge or label.

My opinion on this is simple, if you have enough money to spend billions on drones, missles, war ships, etc... to KILL people worldwide, you can spare the money to actually FEED your own citizens.

That is all.

Re: Congress Set To Take Food Aid Away From Millions Of Hungry Americans!
...

you should rant against it. Yes, many of the people on this board are programmed sociopathic slaves.

Civilization is under full scale unconventional military assault.

So those of you who cheer are boot lickers and worship the system that enslaves you. The time will come for many who cheer today that they are in the bread line as well.

Re: Congress Set To Take Food Aid Away From Millions Of Hungry Americans!

The title of your thread is bogus. It should be : "The Middle Class is already struggling to put food on their own tables and can no longer support and ever-expanding bureaucracy above AND an ever-expanding entitlement class below, both of whom are working in league to squeeze them dry".

Dont shoot the reporter for reporting the news!!!

And yes OP

"My opinion on this is simple, if you have enough money to spend billions on drones, missles, war ships, etc... to KILL people worldwide, you can spare the money to actually FEED your own citizens." OP

totally agree $$$ spent on Wars could be used to help get people back to work , educate, etc....

But one thing to keep in mind always!!

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
Wake up my friend, be the one person who makes the difference!!!! 1 [link to youtu.be]
