What's the difference between a DPMS $500-600 AR and a $1,000+ AR? | |
Travis Bickle Vigilantes need love too.... User ID: 2280222 United States 08/08/2012 03:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can spring for a good DPMS under $600, so what's stopping me? Why do I need to save up for a Rock River or Bushmaster? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21526860 About 400 bucks... and a bit more refinement. notHing wrong with the dpms if its all you can afford. but if you spend more, you get better machine work and higher quality components. thus slightly higher reliability. edited for typos.... Get what you can now, cause the prices are not going to go down. And get training cause having a gun does not make you knowledgeable, it only makes you dangerous to everyone around you, including your family and friends. |

Better to need and not have. AKs are OK too, but I prefer the AR, it's really a personal choice. If you buy it get ready to have extra parts and lots of cleaning supplys. Quoting: Child of GOD My log book is currently at 1500+ rounds on my LR308. Not a single problem. As for cleaning, every DI type AR requires cleaning under heavy use. Patches, brushes and oil are cheap .......FTFs are not. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 17892097 United States 08/08/2012 05:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Save up and buy a Smith & Wesson or Colt. Stay the fuck away from Bushmaster, anyone who has REAL experience with an AR-15, and not just youtube reviews will tell you the same. I made the mistake, and I learned from it. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1428208 United States 08/08/2012 05:15 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I can't answer for the $1000+ ARs but I've had no problems with my DPMS. It doesn't get what some would call HEAVY use. I shoot 300 to 500 rounds a month of American Eagle 223. I've never had a fail to eject, but I did have one or two fail to feeds (the steel mags that came with it were pretty cheap) until I got my P-Mags. I bought it early last summer so it has to have 4k to 5k rounds by now. Mine doesn't have a forward assist or a dust cover, but I haven't needed either. But you may want those options. I keep it fairly clean and run it wet and it does exactly what I want. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger. |
