Atmosphere-Ionosphere Response to the M9 Tohoku Earthquake Revealed by Joined Satellite and Ground Observations. Preliminary results:
Our first results show that on March 8th a rapid increase of emitted infrared radiation was observed from the satellite data and an anomaly developed near the epicenter. The GPS/TEC data indicate an increase and variation in electron density reaching a maximum value on March 8. Starting on this day in the lower ionospheric there was also confirmed an abnormal TEC variation over the epicenter. From March 3-11 a large increase in electron concentration was recorded at all four Japanese ground based ionosondes, which return to normal after the main earthquake. We found a positive correlation between the atmospheric and ionospheric anomalies and the Tohoku earthquake. [link to arxiv.org]
Please go to Radiation Watch on facebook to see graphs of high rads in previous days. I don't think these are Fukushima plumes, I think this is radon being released from FAULTS.
Montana, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Florida have reported very high rad spikes in the past 2-3 days.
Quoting: RadChick Hello there Rad..here is the Ionosphere at 300Kms and the TEC disturbance associated with the 3/11 Japanese Quake - This Simulation covers before during and after the event with the epicenter being directly below the center of the Ionospheric rippling - [ link to www.youtube.com] It is hard to tell whether the Earthquake was somehow induced through Magneto-Ionosphere-Lithosphere coupling or if the energy released from the Earthquake did itself send shockwaves all the way through the Troposphere-Stratosphere and into the Ionosphere.
