Does anyone know anything about manipulative psychology?
I mean like the type the police use when they are undertaking an investigation - I find this subject fascinating. Obviously they play on peoples natural responses. For example, in Australia, the police and politicians all speak in the same stilted authoritative way when they speak with the media. They know the approach to take so their words make a statement.

I know this is one.....

1. The police will make themselves visible. Just enough to scare person being investigated and place them on the back foot. Obviously hoping whoever they are trying to sting will react in the same time honoured way. Panic.

Anyone know anything else about this subject?

Profiling subjects to identify weaknesses which later can be exploited, or for which can be used to design manipulation. Profiling extended family, friends, to see if they can be manipulated, and or exploited to gain desired effects, or even to put subject on back foot.

I would love to go to uni and study psychology.

On youtube there is a great example of what you are talking about. An interview with the serial killer Schaefer. He is saying he is innocent, so the interviewer starts talking to him about sharing the prison with Bundy. You see the change in Schaefer because he can't stand the thought, that someone may think that Bundy is a better serial killer than him. It is really creepy to watch.

The interviewer manipulates him completely.

Wow that's fascinating. I'm going to look it up. I could see how he would be on the back foot. With serial killers, they must be seen as the powerful one in the relationship. Putting Bundy in the cell with him, another power player would affect his placing. He needs a weaker person who he can dominate.

It's amazingly simple to do. First you profile victim, what are there beliefs, attitudes, are they sympathises to society, or are they on the fringe? Next they identify weakness. I know of a number of weaknesses of mine that could be exploited. It's funny that the tax payers are paying for the research into people control, and in return it's used against them.the fear is so inbred into us that all they need to do is set off little markers to enflame it.

We should be installing in our children the ability to recognise manipulations used against them and counter them. School so indoctrinated into the herd.

I think weaknesses are more likely messed while profiling a subject. Create an action and watch a response. An amazing policing tool.

I wonder if anyone has done the psychology of a police officer? I bet the really successful ones would have a high degree of 'learned' psychopathy.

This is just an interest of mine. Ive always been fascinated with.

No wonder many police have such miserable family lives. Not that they would care. I guess it's just their family that has to suffer.

All humans are manipulative psychologists. Otherwise you could not speak words or make gestures that other people understand. People constantly try to manipulate other people.

For example, with your posting you try to manipulate us readers into thinking that the police is evil.

Absolutely. It makes my heart so happy to hear you say this.

I could never 'manipulate' a person into think the police is evil. This is an open forum, I'm just inviting discussion and debate.

Why would discussing police tactics lead people to 'thinking' that the police are evil?

As they say, the devil is in the details, God is in the whole design.
