Anonymous Coward User ID: 1442220 Canada 09/14/2012 06:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, Mother Nature is not reacting well to the Gulf incident. It seems she is about to unleash a cleansing. This report from September 12th made me both laugh and be struck with fear at the same time! "There has been reported increased seismic activity in the Bayou Corne/Grand Bayou area. This activity is not the sharp tremors that were occurring prior to the development of the sinkhole; however, indications show (through monitors set up by USGS) that seismic activity has been occurring NW of the sinkhole and it’s unknown at this time what this may mean. USGS is continuously monitoring this activity." [link to assumptionla.wordpress.com] It is out of man's control, let's hope she is forgiving and not wrathful, let's not antagonize the situation by trying to fix it, or benefit from it, to add to the failure that already exists. Thought and prayers for the people that live in the area. May you all be safe. |

DNR hired The Shaw Group engineers to redesign a well that can be placed for venting operations. The geo-probe rigs for observation continue to be placed at lower depths to check for the presence of gas. They’re currently working on the Dugas & LeBlanc property, north of LA-70 and two geo-probe wells have been placed on Triche property. DNR is currently looking for locations as well as willing individual property owners to place additional geo-probe observation wells. The drilling rig is being dismantled and moved out today and will be replaced with the snubbing rig as we advised earlier this week. No road closures are anticipated; however, travelers may encur intermittent traffic congestion as equipment is being moved. 🦋 |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 12487521 United States 09/18/2012 01:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | He said a state trooper was awakened by a tremor about 2:30 a.m. Friday. The trooper was sleeping in cabins near the sinkhole response command post in Bayou Corne along La. 70 South. Horton said the most recent tremors are probably about a 2 on the Richter scale, which measures the energy of earthquakes. What might be most vexing about the return of these sharp tremors is that they come in addition to long-period, lower frequency tremors that began Aug. 6. These long-period tremors come from northwest of the sinkhole and not in the salt dome, Horton said. [link to theadvocate.com] |
pink cat User ID: 24002592 United States 09/18/2012 11:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | September 18th, 2012 Videos have been posted to our YouTube site, [link to www.youtube.com] On yesterday, Texas Brine reported a 20′ x 20′ growth of the sinkhole. In the video of the sinkhole site, at approximately 00:35 you can see this growth towards and into the pipeline right of way. In the video of the rig site, you can see that the drilling rig has been dismantled and removed in order to make way for the snubbing rig that will complete the final phase of drilling and entry into the cavern. +++ this and tremours starting up. but hey not to worry they say. +++ at least they are now mentioning more companies involved besides just this Texas Brine: Contrary to reports we’ve been questioned about from residents, the mandatory evacuation remains and a forced evacuation is not being called at this time. Conditions remain the same and have not changed to heighten the alert; however, should conditions change this order can be changed at any time. As reported previously, the rigs are being changed out so that the final phase of drilling can begin. Once we receive notice from Texas Brine that they have a set time frame on when the cavern will be entered, we will give a 48-hour notice. The notice will be disseminated via this blog, official press release, and the emergency notification system (phone calls to residents in evacuation area). As stated on yesterday, DNR has ordered all companies with active industry on the salt dome (Texas Brine, Chevron, Cross Tex, Dow, Pro Mix, Acadian, and PB Energy) to investigate for the presence of natural gas and ordered to vent any gas found. Each company was required to submit their plans regarding this order to DNR. 🦋 |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 12487521 United States 09/18/2012 12:30 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It seems that DNR has placed The Shaw group in charge of oversight and removal of the natural gas from the water. Here is some info on Shaw... "For example, as told by journalist Greg Palast in the documentary, Stone and Webster, now a subsidiary of the Shaw Group, was found guilty of racketeering and fraud for faking seismic data; fined $4 billion. Now the company is bringing on three new nuclear plants. The Shaw Group is a top donor to the Governor of Louisiana, Bobby Jindal." "When such institutional crimes are allowed, disaster eventually comes. And it is still coming, loaded into the pipeline perhaps beyond our ability to survive it."
