Parish and state officials will hold a briefing to update affected residents on the recent developments of Texas Brine’s Oxy Cavern #3 at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Unified Command Post in Bayou Corne at Sportsman’s Landing.

[link to assumptionla.wordpress.com]

“Texas Brine has elected to let its own interests guide a premature conclusion lacking sufficient supporting analysis – breaking away from the ongoing cooperative effort to apply scientific principles to determine causes and impacts, guided by the need for accurate data and analysis to best protect public safety,” Welsh said. “The investigation and the remediation for environmental damages will be driven by the best science available and carried out to standards set by the state of Louisiana to ensure the safety of the Bayou Corne community – and will not be driven by Texas Brine’s timetable or concerns about corporate liability.”

The new requirements for Texas Brine include turning over the studies and data the company claims show seismic activity as the cause for the collapse, immediate reporting of changes to cavern status and immediate reporting of activity logs, well logs and test results generated by the company’s activities involving the cavern. To ensure transparency to the public, Texas Brine must immediately report any change in the cavern conditions to the Office of Conservation. The Office stands ready to issue penalties or other fines to Texas Brine should it not comply.

Overnight, there was a 30’ x 50’ slough in on the SE side of the sinkhole (towards Texas Brine). The slough in took many trees and part of the road that was built to park excavators on to resume cleanup activities. This area has never sloughed in before as opposed to previous slough-ins that have taken place in the same spots along the embankment of the sinkhole.

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
DNR scientists have said they suspected that the cavern failed, leaked its brine contents and caused the sinkhole, which is about 475 feet wide and about 200 feet from the salt cavern.
[link to theadvocate.com]

so now the truth is coming out and this is not good!
as the powers involved start pointing their fingers in every direction this issue grows worse with every fleeting moment!
do we know what it down there?
do we know how much new damage has been caused be all the new holes they have made?
and the most important question.....
WHAT THE HECK ARE THE GOING TO DO TO STOP THIS!

and a lovely side note:
“USGS, we spoke to them today. They stated plainly to us today, the folks from USGS, that the cavern collapse caused the seismic activity, not the other way around,” Chustz said.

so i would rather have been told the earth moved and caused the sinker...
this is not good if the sinker is moving the earth!
so if there is a larger collapse how might that effect the ground and faults in the area?
and now more the question....if this thing does blow....
well if it blows i think it would be safe to say there would be some large earth movements!

this is not play out well at all....and still there seems to be quite the MSM blackout on all of this!!!!

He said a state trooper was awakened by a tremor about 2:30 a.m. Friday. The trooper was sleeping in cabins near the sinkhole response command post in Bayou Corne along La. 70 South.

Horton said the most recent tremors are probably about a 2 on the Richter scale, which measures the energy of earthquakes.

What might be most vexing about the return of these sharp tremors is that they come in addition to long-period, lower frequency tremors that began Aug. 6. These long-period tremors come from northwest of the sinkhole and not in the salt dome, Horton said.

brief here!

Assumption Parish Police Jury President Marty Triche: [...] All of our suspicions and suspections have been confirmed. The Texas Brine cavern has failed and has…has… collapsed. Now to what extent that’s still being done [???]

[...]

It obviously was spin by Texas Brine to diffuse the situation because they had to acknowledge to the public that their cavern had failed.

[...]

The crisis that we see here today

[...]

Our fears and suspicions have been confirmed, the cavern fail

from another thread....

'Back in Jan. of this year, I was heavily researching the 'mystery booms' that had started popping up all over.

On one of the USGS forums I was using, a man claimed to know what was causing the booms and then went into great detail on what to look for.

His post, and the entire thread have long since been purged.

However, what he said stuck with me and from that point on I was waiting for the signs.

He claimed that the booms were the result of Super Fracking that had exposed a large underground cavern that sat against an exposed section of a subsection of the Madrid fault. That when this happened they knew they'd messed up big time. From then on the US Gov has been undergoing a 24/7 operation of keeping the cavern pressurized with fluid, to prevent the methane from travelling through the fault and destabalizing it.

He claimed that, if methane bubbles started appearing in the gulf, it would be a sign that the US efforts had failed and that the methane was now free flowing.
He said if we started to see methane bubbles and sinkholes around the gulf coast, it would signal a window of weeks before a cascade failure occurs.

When the methane forces it's way through the fault, the resulting force will rip up the entire fault complex and end up ripping the entire Mississppi River valley a new one.
He estimated at least 100 miles on either side of the Mississppi as being underwater. The new continental divide.

I asked my dad about all this shit and had him read some of the reports. He shit his pants. He is retired now but worked in the oil industry for years in Canada and the Middle East. He is well aware of how this all works. He was a specialist and an engineer and trouble shooter. He says that pretty much that area is past the point of no return. That the gases are going to travel everywhere and there is no way they can solve it. There is no tech for this type of thing. The gas will be like water and take the path of least resistance. It can move hundreds of miles along fissures and cracks underground. He said one lightening strike in the right spot could probably light the whole thing up. He wondered why they are not evacuating people out already. Alot of my family are snow birds and travel to the states every year down to Arizona and Yuma. NONE of them are going this year. NONE. They think the whole west coast, California to the Baja and now this is just a potential powder keg waiting to go up. Domino effect. Good luck to everybody and god be with you all. This is the original thread that I started. There is a Part 2 with the same title also with mostly just updates to the situation. Thanks to everyone for your research and eyes on this situation...GLP ALWAYS finds a way to get the info out! You people ROCK!!!

The initially estimated 200 by 200 feet sinkhole that developed late last week, swallowing ancient cypress trees 100 feet tall near Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou communities in south Louisiana, is now reported to be 380 feet deep with a diameter of 372 feet, filled mainly with salt water with traces of diesel fuel, and only 1,500 feet from a cavern filled with butane, according to Tuesday morning news. Analysts' reports further hint that Texas Brine Company's cavern failed, but the butane cavern failing is today's worst-case scenario.

If a nearby butane-filled cavern fails, as it appears the brine cavern did, "it could cause an explosion felt up to two miles away."

I trust my Dad. He is highly intelligent and knows this industry big time. He said that that earthquakes are really telling. The gas is under so much pressure looking for a way out that its probably causing the earthquakes not the fault. Earthquakes harbor alot of energy. Earthquakes also conduct energy. The earthquakes themselves because they can produce lightening could ignite it. Its a bomb waiting for the right conditions and up it will go he said. It will be felt more than 2 miles away. More like 200 miles away. God Bless.

You are going to need god to help you all really soon. I'd be moving even if it means your starting over. Whats your life and the lives of your children worth too ya....?

I trust my Dad. He is highly intelligent and knows this industry big time. He said that that earthquakes are really telling. The gas is under so much pressure looking for a way out that its probably causing the earthquakes not the fault. Earthquakes harbor alot of energy. Earthquakes also conduct energy. The earthquakes themselves because they can produce lightening could ignite it. Its a bomb waiting for the right conditions and up it will go he said. It will be felt more than 2 miles away. More like 200 miles away. God Bless.

Hopefully this doesn't happen...obviously.

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
from another thread....
