Just when I thought things couldn't get any weirder around here lol...the site went down for an hour, and when it came back up it had reverted me back to 8/25/2011.

So I scrolled down to see what was up that day, and most of it was storms involving hurricane Irene, solar doom, and quake doom, including this on FEMA/New Madrid from an AC that's dated August 24, 2011 [link to www.businessinsider.com]

Ok, then I dug deeper into google afterward and found these documents!

Preview ABSTRACT

Gas hydrates reported in Green Canyon Block 184/185 are associated with an acoustically amorphous mound delineated on high resolution geophysical profiles. This elliptical mound is orientated parallel to prominent fault trends and is connected at depth with a regional chaotic seismic facies. Using this structure as a model, the location of gas hydrates was predicted from geohazard data in Mississippi Canyon Block'798. Structures of similar acoustic character and geologic setting are also found in Ewing Bank Blocks 873 and 874 in water depths too shallow for hydrate formation.

Gas hydrates were first reported in the Gulf of Mexico in 1984 (1). These hydrates were discovered in the near surface sediments within Green Canyon Block 185. Since this initial account, numerous other sites have been delineated in the northwest Gulf of Mexico (2,3). Besides the gas hydrates many of these locations are associated with active oil seepage, (1,2,3) prolific chemosynthetic communities (2,3) and the production of authogenic carbonates (2,4)." Thread: New fault stretches from N.Y. to Alabama

...something that people have wondered about. strange, indeed!

the map looks like it's especially onerous through Louisiana, if I'm looking at it correctly.

"“...If the lineament is there, then you’re sure to get earthquakes more than otherwise,” said Costain.

That’s because faults, however ancient can serve as conduits for water that weakens fault zones and can cause regional stresses in the crust to be relieved as an earthquake.

This is, in fact, the likely secret to how all big and small mid-continent quakes can happen, so far from the more active and obvious zones where tectonic plates are smashing together, he explained.

“The crust is full of fluids and looking for an excuse to break,” said Costain.

The New York-Alabama Lineament is one more place where that can happen."

Actually, this gap CAN be seen in the video from August 9th which I highlighted back on page 48.

From 2:57 through 3:00 you can clearly see it. I had considered it was just a 'moss' covered road or waterway, since there are no trees there.

On the 20th, I had actually noted a line of trees at 3:00 which I thought might be failing on the OPPOSITE side, extending to the facility. This can also be seen from 2:57 through 3:00.

==========
Question: is it possible that these 'treeless' lines are weaker, since

1. they have no tree roots to hold them together
2. their 'watery' makeup are the perfect medium, channels, that allow for a quicker dispersion of leaking/leeching materials, and, possible deterioration of the underlying salt deposits?

If so, if this is what we are now witnessing with little problem, this could possibly give us a heads-up to how far and wide this sinkhole will extend.

========================================

Go back to 0:00. From the opening shot you can see these treeless areas, including those in the expanse extending between the sinkhole and the community of the bottom left.

Stop at 0:11, 0;26, 0:32, Then, at 0:44, where today's open gap is clearly defined, back on August 9th.

Again, stop at 0:58, 1:04, and, at 1:09 where two lines are shown leading to the facility.

At 1:16 you can see where the pipeline crossing has since been swallowed up.

Look at 1:26 at the 9 o'clock position: this is a good shot of where today's gap has formed.

This entire video from August 9th, one week from the day the sinkhole was first reported, shows at least three distinct areas which have since proven to be compromised: the sinkhole expansion to the west (seen as 'to the right' in most shots from the North) where I had noted already dying trees, now swallowed up; the pipeline road, which I also pointed out at having dying trees, now swallowed up; and, today's gap...which I totally missed, even though I made note of possibly dead trees seen near that facility.

=================

Should the authorities start doing baseline studies along these moist, treeless areas?

Simple testing at even 5 points along today's gap might help determine the direction of spread, assuming their entry method does not cause contamination from one testing point to another.

Maybe infrared aerial studies to note temperature patterns would be a far better approach, along with other detection methods I am certain are available, such as sensitive satellite and other aerial imagery.

The time is NOW or NEVER.
===

I want to know WHO is running this operation, because they don't seem all that bright.

It's time to start thinking OUTSIDE THE BOX, no matter what the cost. They need real time reporting, instead of being willing to wait until November for detailed ASSUMPTIONS, which will then be sorely outdated, and, possibly a moot-point by then.

damned

It has been reported to us that there was a sharp tremor recorded by USGS monitors at approximately 9:06 last night. The tremor was large enough that the body wave phases could easily be identified. The preliminary location was just SE of Oxy #3 cavern at a depth of 500m. There is no additional information specific to this seismic activity at this time.

New info on the quake at the sinkhole.

Sinkhole quake jolts further than Bayou Corne

[link to www.examiner.com]

Snip less than 50%:

Odd earthquakes have been felt as far as 45 miles south of the sinkhole, as reported on Oct. 5 after a swarm occurred with the highest quake registering over 4 on the Richter scale.

At the meeting, officials said they were installing an early warning system that would detect earthquakes and other events. An official explained it would be more effective than the USGS monitors now in place, recording seismic activities that are occurring regularly.

"Devices looking for seismic activity will all be integrated to form another early warning-type of device," a Texas Brine spokesperson explained.

The new devices are what he said were very similar to what USGS already has in place but "a step above USGS as they will be embedded, underground, more permanent."...

OOookaaaay...

A few days ago, Hecox stated that there was a frack out, or a blow-OUT of the cavern. Now, he is advising the opposite. He is saying the side of the cavern blew-IN, under pressure.

Which is it? Why does it matter?

It matters, and I will try to explain why.

The initial scenario laid out was this. They stated that the well was bored out too large, and that the side close to the sediment layer was compromised. This, over years, caused the salt to give way, allowing 'compacted earth' to invade. This, in turn, caused the increased pressure which caused the frack-out, which led to the sinkhole.
I had problems with the logistics of this scenario, from the start, which I addressed previously, in one of the sinkhole threads.

Now, he is saying that the cavern 'blew IN, under pressure.' What does that tell us?

It confirms that my line of reasoning, when I stated that 'something' was 'pushing' on the side of the cavern, causing pressure and the resulting collapse.

Now, as I stated in another thread, Hecox is not just a geologist. He is a HYDROgeologist. He has been called in, by the government, to work on water table contamination problems before. Read this, it is really short:

[link to www.nmenv.state.nm.us]

So, now we know that 'pressure' 'caused a blow-in' of the cavern. We also know that Hecox has experience in how water travels and reacts under ground. He has experience in how gas and fuel travel underground. He has experience in cleaning up and protecting the water table...

I am going to think out loud, here.

What if Hecox is not there, just because of the sinkhole. What if he is there because of what CAUSED the sinkhole.

What caused the sinkhole? The pressure from outside the cavern. What caused the pressure? Something that they don't want to talk about. If it was another salt diapir, migrating upward (which is what I had, at first, hypothesized), I honestly think they would tell people. That scenario, at least, would not cause mass panic. That leaves 'something' else to be the cause...

I know everyone is saying that it is the methane 'ocean' migrating. I agree, but I am the type of person who has to figure these types of things out, for myself. I must have proof of this, not only for myself, but others, as well.

People tend to turn away from scary situations, unless they have 'proof' that they are in danger.

Can anyone help me to find some topographical maps (showing lift and subsidence) of Louisiana, preferably one from a few decades ago (circa 1960's to 1970's) and one from maybe one or two years ago?

I think we really ARE looking at the cause being the methane plume, migrating... This isn't just a 'wouldn't that be terrible if it happened' situation, anymore.

I would love to discuss this with anyone else who has found evidence supporting or contrary to, this migrating methane plume hypothesis.

Thanks everyone for staying on top of this!

Much love to all!

Wow!

...well...

That is all I need to know.

I think I will take my family on a 'camping trip'. I'm thinking we will go somewhere far from home and high above sea level...

Thanks for posting this...
