Quoting: Paa Tal “If it’s a cavern fracture, failure, whatever, there’s little that you can do,” Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) civil engineer who is coordinating the science group studying the sinkhole, Chris Knotts told the crowd at the public meeting Friday night in Pierre Part, Louisiana. A “low but audible rumble in the crowd” followed that statement by Knotts, according to David Mitchell, reporting for The Advocate. [link to www.examiner.com] |

Please note that this does NOT mean the closure of LA-70, it is an addition of alternate route, more efficient and convenient than the current detour route (through Bayou Pigeon or Bayou L’Ourse). From Radchick [link to www.examiner.com] nice find and thanks for adding it to this link for anyone who still checks this one! That happened in Belle Chase - hundreds of miles from Bayou Corne. Anonymous Coward User ID: 21470353 United States 08/25/2012 02:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The initially estimated 200 by 200 feet sinkhole that developed late last week, swallowing ancient cypress trees 100 feet tall near Bayou Corne and Grand Bayou communities in south Louisiana, is now reported to be 380 feet deep with a diameter of 372 feet, filled mainly with salt water with traces of diesel fuel, and only 1,500 feet from a cavern filled with butane, according to Tuesday morning news. Analysts' reports further hint that Texas Brine Company's cavern failed, but the butane cavern failing is today's worst-case scenario. Quoting: Paa Tal If a nearby butane-filled cavern fails, as it appears the brine cavern did, "it could cause an explosion felt up to two miles away." [link to www.examiner.com] how about talking about todays issues and not issues and videos a year old. |

Perhaps I am not understanding their game plan, but it sounds to me like drilling into that salt dome is a really bad idea! |
