The alarm reports coincide with a spike in seismic activity, according to The University of Memphis Center for Earthquake Research and Information (CERI), and also might coincide with resumed drilling into the sinkhole area after Tropical Storm Isaac left it. Anonymous Coward User ID: 20609565 United States 09/03/2012 11:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Would the TX Brine drilling REALLY cause the seismic monitors to register like that??? Sure would like someone (a seismic professional!) to make an analysis of that! I've been on numerous drilling locations over the years (in W TX) while drilling was going on. It was unbelievably noisy, and there was some ground vibration, but I wouldn't think it was enough to set off seismic recordings like that. I think that the folks that live in the area probably know the sounds, smells and other indicators that are normal for their area. And under the circumstances, I would think that most of them are paying close attention to, and listening for, the various monitors that have been placed around the sinkhole. If it was my house and my life and my neighborhood, I'd be paying VERY close attention. But the officials, like usual, are not paying the residents much attention. How unbelievably frustrating!!! Thanks, OP, for keeping the updates coming! |

They were drilling before the hurricane as well, what we need to see is if these seismic readings also happened then, and did they stop before the drilling stopped, I don't think the drilling has stopped, or if it has we have not being told that they have reached the well yet. |

We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. alexisj9 User ID: 1376880 United Kingdom 09/04/2012 04:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | These thermal contouring levels were selected to begin at temperatures that are above the ambient levels found within the field of view, increasing in five degree increments to the maximum of 60°C. The thermal contrast is greatest where the surface materials are significantly different. The highest contour level (60°C) consists of a very small percentage of the scene and appears to be associated directly to some type of operating mechanical equipment. Those levels over 55°C are still a low percentage and occur where some activity at an operating facility is contributing thermal energy to the nearby surrounding materials. The contour levels over 45°C (blue and green) are consistent with surface materials that differ significantly from naturally occurring materials, such as manmade equipment, structures or construction materials. The sinkhole area has a thermal profile that indicates either man made materials, such as a petroleum product at the surface, or some externally heated naturally occurring material, such as upwelling deep subsurface brine. The booms present in the sink hole area appear to be performing their intended role of separating materials at the surface. Upwelling hot brine would quickly transfer heat to all fluids in the sinkhole regardless of their separation by surface booms. Guess someone new this info already. The pic this is refering to is on the last page of the report. |

I think this is why they are suddenly reporting on that 'enchanted forest' 10 miles off the coast of Alabama in the Gulf of Mexico, reported to be at LEAST 12 thousand years old....they KNOW this entire area is SINKING into the GOM and they are giving as many subtle HINTS to the public to get ready for it. The ONLY reason I can figure that they don't just come right out and TELL PEOPLE to GTFO there is because so many businesses and tax bases will be lost at ONE TIME before the next election. Ubama cannot have that on his plate as well as all the OTHER crap load of FAILURES he has. So I will say it for you....GTFO that place NOW. HIDE yo wife.... HIDE yo chidrends.... |

[link to www.topix.com] This stuff has been happening and I think the citizens of this area are just getting lip service. I think the one comment about the earthquake years ago makes an excellent point. The poster had refered to an earthquake in the bayou is like shaking a bowl of jello. Either that was no taken into consideration when building or it should not have been built there to begin with. That said, how is this going to effect all other construction. This has the potential to make 100's if not 1000's of homes and businesses unhabital. Just to dangerous. What if they get a decent sized earthquake and things begin sinkng to quickly for people to get out of harms way? Those caves are all over the place down there, one wrong move/shake could breech one or more of them. Or so I would think. That whole place is at or below sea level. Maybe people need to invest in pontoons for the house foundation..haha But really, might want to consider seeing if there would be an affordable way to make the houses more pliable, so that if there is an earthquake the structure will not collapse and will allow people to get out of town if need be. If I lived there I would be scared to death right now. A good friend of mine is from there, although she is no longer living there, she still has family there. I am going to ask her if she knows anything about this, I'm not sure how far away they live from Assumption. |
