Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
This sloughing is following a clockwise path around the sinkhole that began on the western edge last week. Movement of the floating debris toward the center of the sinkhole area was observed during this morning’s event. Efforts to begin removing the surface debris have been postponed due to this most recent sloughing incident.

So we should start looking for the eastern side to start sloughing in also.

FYI...The Louisiana fault lines generally run in an east - west direction along the bottom half of the state! Things could be taking the path of the least resistance!

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
For those who don't think there are earthquakes happening around the sinkhole...

The area has a history of quakes.

Largest earthquake to hit Louisiana:

Near Napoleonville, Assumption Parish, Louisiana
1930 10 19 12:17 UTC
Magnitude 4.20
Intensity VI

The earthquake damaged chimneys and broke windows at Napoleonville and cracked plaster at White Castle, northwest of Napoleonville. Many people in the area rushed into the streets.

This is the area where the sinkhole is. White Castle is only a few miles from there.

An excellent PDF that gives you an idea of how many faults are in Louisiana:

Snip: The parish's director of homeland security and emergency preparedness, John Boudreaux, says a 15-hundred square foot section of the earth caved in last week, pulling down several trees and part of a road.

Human rights defender Senator Fred Mills believes that Assumption Parish’s salt dome sinkhole appears to becoming another ongoing manmade Lake Peigneur catastrophe, a government supported oil and gas industry genocide through poisoned water, according to his interview Sunday by Deborah Dupré. Mysterious gas bubbles plaguing Bayou Corne sinkhole area are also increasing at Lake Peigneur, 80 miles west of the sinkhole, say Mills and his constituents.

Re: HUGE Louisiana sinkhole!!!!
Wednesday, some people in the Gulf parishes reported hearing a loud noise similar to thunder accompanying the quakes.

“My wife described it as sounding like a garbage truck had just dropped a dumpster,” Comardelle said.

“It was clear outside, and then we felt more tremors,” Comardelle said, having joined neighbors outside looking for signs of what was causing the jolts.

Rafael Abreu, a geophysicist with USGS, said the earth’s crust is riddled with fault lines, and people often report hearing such a loud noise when they are near the epicenter of a quake.

Boudreaux said that the National Guard reported having no fly-overs that could have caused sonic booms. He called multiple oil-field facilities, but none had an explanation.
