Haven't a chance to read the entire thread yet but saw the flood map and have a question...I am notoriously horrible at geography so the fact that I can't get a close up on the map doesn't help ;) But I am on the East coast- about 50 mi from the ocean but only a few miles from a river that is (duh) connected to it. What is the likelihood of the ocean causing the river to surge by miles? I understand if you are right at the mouth it would affect you but if not, wouldn't it just rise enough to flood and not take everything out?
