We all want peace, nice homes, good food, future for our families. Unfortunately that was cut off from thousands of Jewish families in 70 AD. It was so bad that a Roman soldier described rivers of blood flowing down the streets..

But whats wrong with wanting real leadership here and now?

The New World of the United States has vastly accomplished peace and security for its citizens and its poor.

We have the clothing and food and shelter that God has promised us, do we not?

Of course lawlessness is on the increase and law must be restored to its rightful capacity.. Weve had it so good that weve become lenient in many matters of crime amongst our citizens.
 Quoting: APOLLO ILLUMINIST

If this is the world for you, that is your right to be smitten with it.
If you think there is peace and security in this country, go to any high crime areas and spend the nite.....its just gotten worse is all, cuz now its spread to just regular ole neighborhoods where you would think there would be no crime. I don't call that peace friend!
This corporate usa is nothing but slavery and its the peoples minds that have to change to free themselves.
Those who like greed and slavery, well, that is your right to luv that mentality.....as for me, i just prepare myself for the leap in consciousness that is coming for us who have prepared ourselves spiritually!
Good luck with this system though!
Live and Let Live

One need not pray or plead to our Creator.....all one needs to do is remove the walls!

One who refuses to Self Govern can expect someone else to Govern for them!

Until you give up the idea that happiness will be found somewhere else.....the next place, the next partner, new job..... you will never be happy!

...

because Jesus came to bring peace, but during those times, and the mindset of jew s and gentiles, his word was not accepted readily. most of Jesus' teachings were about how his teachings were interpreted in relation to the Torah and the views of those outside of Judaism.

that passage is about how Jesus would be interpreted.

not about how Jesus would not bring peace on the earth.
 Quoting: Salt

I do not agree since you have contradicted what he clearly said.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21604263

we can agree to disagree. it is what it is.

the bottom line is that during those times, the social, religious, and political environment played a huge role in every structure in place and Jesus came in and disrupted all of them.

keep it in context. do not pick and pull scripture to make points that have nothing to do with the point trying to be established.
 Quoting: Salt

Ha please , don't lecture me on taking it out of context . I am well aware of reading the word in the full context but it is you who contradicted what Yeshua clearly said ! And you still have not shown how I have taken it out of context . Please provide the verses that show I have .
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21604263

Jesus very much so came against the familial structures in place at the time. Jesus' Messiah role came against EVERY structure in place at the time. In order to fulfill the role of the Messiah, it was vital to reveal that every structure set in place was incongruent to the Kingdom.

Not an easy pair of shoes to fill.

Try to realize that familial structure was deeply entrenched in society structure, political affiliation, religious standing, and financial survival.

the teachings of Jesus, His standing as the One True Messiah, and the King of the Jew s, broke down every familial structure that had been set in place.

difficult to explain without extensive historical reference.

The Third Conditional

Correction: What would have happened if Jesus had taken the Devil's offer?

The "would have" is in the Principal Clause.

The verb in the Subordinate Clause is in the pluperfect tense formed by "had" + the past participle "taken".

<<<sigh>>>

American newscasters make this dreadful grammar error all the time. Even "Wolfie" on CNN has been heard to do so. The British, however, still manage to hire writers and speakers who can ensure that their news broadcasts are grammatical, i.e., in the Queen's English.

How sad that traditional "Latinate" grammar is not taught anymore in public schools and/or high schools in North America!

What if Jesus would have taken the Devils Offer?
by Apollo

A intriguing question.. I want you all to think about what would have happened if Jesus took the Devils offer of all the Kingdoms of the world. He turned it down btw. But what if he took up the offer? What would life have been like for us? This isnt meant to slander Christianity , nor Judaism ( I am not implying they are the devil ) but to later highlight the fact that in Judaism, the Messiah is expected to be a actual Priest King who would change peoples lives. Jesus was a pacifist, peacemaker and honorably could not nor would not be a warrior King. Violence would have had to be used to free countries from occupation that they did not want. In Jesus time. Israel was a Roman Occupation.

QOUTE: By the time of Jesus' birth, the Romans had established a two-tiered system of government consisting of Roman overseers and Jewish leaders who exercised control in the name of Rome. This was the system of power in which the family of Herod the Great grew to prominence. Although half-jewish people, the Herodian family was detested by the Jewish people for its tyrannical rule and also because of its key role in selling out the Jewish heritage to a foreign power. One of Herod's sons, Archelaus, was so brutal in his exercise of power in Jerusalem, that Rome replaced him with one of its own governors, Pontius Pilate, who was to play a significant role in the crucifixion of Jesus. Another of the sons, Herod Antipas, was responsible for the beheading of John the Baptist. It was the same Antipas who is accredited with the mocking of Jesus at his pre-crucifixion trial. (END QOUTE)

:empires23:

Matthew 4:8,9

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

What a wonderful and benevolent government Jesus could have set up. How exemplary justice would have been. Maybe there would have been Habitat projects all over Israel for anyone who needed a home. And the proud, the rich, and the powerful could not have dominated their fellow citizens. As a twentieth-century governor and president I would have had a perfect pattern to follow. I could have pointed to the Bible and told other government leaders, "This is what Jesus did 2000 years ago in government. Why don't we do the same?" .

.-Jimmy Carter. 39th President of the United States. (1977–1981)

Re: What if Jesus would have taken the Devils Offer? by Apollo
Interesting question Apollo. From our human experiences temptation is easy to understand and feel. However, he was possibly only half human. We can't fathom that perspective.

More interestingly was his response each time he was tempted his response was "It is written..." So, he's telling us a bunch of information in his response. He's telling us way before whenever, he knew of this temptation, and knew he would make the choice to choose his father's power over earthly things. He knew... that information alone makes you think a lot about what that means. Notice after he was tempted, he was comforted by angels. I think it tells us that we too will be comforted when we choose God over temptation.

Here's the scripture passage.

Matthew 4:1-11

New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness

4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil. 2 After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. 6 “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you,
and they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’[c]”

7 Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’[d]”

8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’[e]”

11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

Re: What if Jesus would have taken the Devils Offer? by Apollo
This is what would have happened (or did happen -- who knows, we are still here, after all):

Satan is stuck here on Earth. Wants badly to leave -- after all, it's like prison. Even if you're top dog, you're still gonna want to leave after a while. I mean, lopsided power does get old after a while. So God wants Satan to tempt Jesus. Well, what's in it for Satan. He ain't gonna do it for nothing. So the catch is, if Satan can successfully tempt Jesus over to the Dark Side, Satan earns his ticket off this rock and Jesus will take his place. That's right, Jesus would become Satan if he succumbs to temptation. And Satan is finally removed of his tiresome duties.

But it's a trick. If Satan successfully tempts Jesus, Satan would be born as Jesus' son and have to face the temptation himself.

It is only when the cycle is broken that both are freed.

So the lesson today, boys an girls is: Don't give in to the hate, or you perpetuate blood bondage.

Re: What if Jesus would have taken the Devils Offer? by Apollo
here's the thing. the temptation in the desert had NOTHING to do with the kingdoms of the world. they ALREADY belonged to Jesus. Jesus knew this, Satan knew this.

the temptation in the desert was about AVOIDING THE DEATH ON THE CROSS.

that was the temptation.

Satan dialed right into the weakest area of Jesus at the time and tempted Him.

Satan did not offer something to Jesus that did not already belong to Jesus. Satan offered an opportunity (false one, of course) to bypass the cross and get to what was already belonging to Jesus without dying to get there.

it is vitally important to comprehend the actual translation of these scriptures without the veil of modern and weak translation efforts.
 Quoting: Salt

do not overlook.
this is a threadkill statement.
 Quoting: Salt

Hardly.

Lucifer is but the bringer of light created to do what is in his nature and to strive to be a Creator. The light he brought was a way to perceive reality in a way that is not centered upon the Creator, but centered upon duality.

His deception comes not in the form of promises communicated, but in the form of duality applied to one's life path. I do agree with your statements regarding the nature of the temptation, though. The temptation was to pick his own path and not that of the Creator, and with the sacrifice of his own life, Jesus was sending the message that the truth is we all have but one path to follow given to us by the Creator.

The beauty of free will is that we can decide in what way our path is paved. We have the opportunity to lay a framework that can be observed by others to assist their own search. We also have the obligation to seek out and discard distortions made by those who are deceived into following a path of their own choosing.

Jesus was no different than you or I. Much work has been done to lead you to believe otherwise so that those who control your beliefs can use your own desire to walk the same path of the ultimate sacrifice for the salvation of mankind. How many soldiers have given up their lives in countless religious wars? Why would they do such a thing?

A: They take the path of giving up their lives to do the work of the Creator because they were taught to believe that doing so will get them closer to their messiah and closer to salvation. All messiahs from all religions are lies - they are simply people who found the true path given to them, tried to help others, and then had their efforts subverted by those who know the truth and still choose to create a false path of their own.

An individual who is on his/her own true path will not be controlled or manipulated into faltering from it. The best ways to keep people from getting on their true path is to sell them into taking false paths and to make common elements of true paths illegal or immoral by false doctrine. People on false paths can be easily deceived and controlled.

Thanks for posting that overview Abe. Good things to think about . Perhaps were all in that challenge period right now. What took Jesus 40 days is taking us many years and we are putting God to the test.

How many CEOs want to become King of the world. There was a article in the paper about a neighborhood trying to block Walmart from opening up yet another store.

The Kings of the World are the corporations now making in vast sums of money without let up. They take over everything in its path.

In India now the storekeepers are trying to keep out Walmart over there. If Walmart sets up, millions of shop keepers will be out of business.

The price of progress.

Were being tested in our day and age.
