(facepalm) Did everyone overlook the condition Satan required of the offer? It was to bow down and worship him, essentially asking Jesus to abandon his submission to God and put himself under Satan. That's why Jesus replied in the way that he did. If Jesus HAD taken the offer, he would have been under Satans direction, and there would be NO perfect world. In fact, it might even have been a lot worse.
Seriously, people. Context.

The world and satan tempt everyone with what they need, want, or are already going to get, but the conditions for receiving those cannot be ignored. That's part of the point.
