(facepalm) Did everyone overlook the condition Satan required of the offer? It was to bow down and worship him, essentially asking Jesus to abandon his submission to God and put himself under Satan. That's why Jesus replied in the way that he did. If Jesus HAD taken the offer, he would have been under Satans direction, and there would be NO perfect world. In fact, it might even have been a lot worse.

Didn't the Roman's take on Christianity, because they themselves were (or perhaps certain leaders) leaning towards its teachings? The one-God theory, or this new path was a clean slate - a new world order.
