Contradictions in the Bible

I suppose it depends on what perspective you have when you read it.

I've never read the bible. God knows I've tried. I could never get passed the whole genealogy part. So and so sired so and so. It's my attention span you see.

Explain a little? That's like a college level graph. From what I understand, there a many contradictions.

Is the overall point: The Bible is a lie? or just misundertood?

Precisely - the point is that for a "divinely-inspired" tome, it's chock full of inconsistencies - one would think that God could get his story straight, but no.

Of course, the defense to that is that while it was divinely inspired, it was penned by men, who are prone to error...but that still doesn't sweep away the fact that no matter who wrote it, it's full of errors.

A lot of contradictions exist because the pseudopigrapha and the apocrypha have been removed from the canon.

Replace those book into the works and a lot of those contradictions will be removed.

There are a few reasons that need to be addressed also. The bible was not written in english. English is a flawed and very poor language be it that. The old testament was written in hebrew and the new testament written in greek. They where written according to the people that lived in those days and how they would interpret it, and not how we interpret it in english today. Our dictionarys have changed alot in 2000 years. If you seek the turth you will need a concordance and a old dictonary. Here is an example, grab a old dictonary and look up "dinosaur". Its not there, but if we do a little reasearch we learn the term dinosaur was invented in 1841. If you look at the bible there will be no use of the word dinosaur. You will however see terms like baheamoth and leviathan...

Also the traslation you use to read the bible is also very important. People believed if they made the bible easier to read more people would find it easier to read and enjoy. This is why there are so many traslations and yes alot of them are filled with differences because if you choose to sell a item in todays day and age you need a patent. Patents have to be 10% different from other patents in order to get a patent number. 10% difference in gods word means a whole bunch of bad news bears...

The bible has over 40 different authors of the 66 different books, written over a 1500 year period. Reading books from people who never new each other and lived far apart from one another you will realise that all of them are saying a message to you. This message shows clearly a divine craftsmanship in the stories.

There also used to be more books in the bible but where removed by man. For some reason man always seems to think we know best, and God doesnt know what hes doing...

There are more reasons than I could go into but the problem lie in the fact that no one wants to read the bible they want someone to tell them. This is lazy, Your understanding of the world and faith in this truth comes from reading the written word. Its about getting to know the author of the bible and not knowing facts about it. Just because you hang out in a garage doesn't mean your a car...
