I remember stories of the LA riots....liberal anti gun types rushing to the the stores to buy gun....the gun shops were sold out except for some fancy engraved double barrel fowling pieces....those were sold at 10K and the purchaser wanted the barrels sawed off....

because nothing world changing is coming overnight. hell 2008 had far more doom than this year. we were closer to bombing Iran then than now. Which I think is nothing but a stringalong. The news was saying at the beginning of this year that Israel had till june to bomb iran or it would never happen, but now they have till the fall.

That's the trap that's been set.

Make people feel better about doom happening when it does because they had some reason to think they 'knew' when it would go down or because they're more prepared for it than the 'sheep' who aren't prepared at all.

Anything to get focus off of actually doing something to stop it.

We could be doom preventers instead of doom preparers if we hadn't fallen for the trick of helping out the economy.

"Sir, the people aren't buying as much useless junk anymore." "Well, convince them they should buy stuff to prepare for the economic travesty that will happen when they no longer can buy the useless junk they don't want to buy anymore."

Get it? The only thing you are preparing for is to delay the inevitable, and helping to delay the time that will come when you will begin to delay it in tandem. You don't stop and think why it is there are numerous MSM shows about prepping, do you? Would they really sponsor shows about something they would rather people not do? And most people just want to talk about how stupid they think those people on the shows are for giving away their super secret prepper grounds. Divided, conquered, trend-following morans.

I learned all I need to know about being prepared in Boy Scouts, and it has little to do with hoarding resources.

If you are not prepared for an emergency and you are able you are simply an idiot.

The just in time supply system is fragile.Nature does not care how much money you have. Our infrastructure(power)is at best obsolete and less reliable than even 5 years ago. There are more people on this planet than ever before, consuming food, water, and energy.

100 years ago you could not survive the winter unless you prepared.94 years ago the nearly the entire glob was at war(WW1).83 years ago we where in the great depression, with the worst drought in history.67 years ago the entire world was at war(WW2).59 years ago was the Korean war.Since 1900 the USA has had 67 recessions, over 2 trillion dollars in damages from natural disasters(USA only since 1978),millions of hours with out power( [link to en.wikipedia.org] you...you are above everyone else and have no need to prepare.

During world war 2 and estimated(by the Department of Defense)28% of all food consumed in America was produced and preserved from gardens less than 2 acres in size.Everything was rationed.Do some home work and see how rough it was for people during that war.Rationing on some items did not end until after the Korean war.

What you have is called normalcy bias.It never happened to you so it can not happen.

The reality is natural disasters happen.Wars happen.Rationing happens.Unemployment happens at some point in most every life.

Being prepared is not being afraid or scared. It is just the opposite. If you know life is going to throw you some curve balls and you prepare you worry less and enjoy while those who do not prepare worry or live in denial.

Like it or not the world is not perfect. At some point in your life you will wish you had prepared.

PS.The longest any fiat money system has ever lasted was the Roman empire. It lasted as a standing currency for 238 years.During that time the metals used to make coins where devalued continuously, kind of like our currency system now.Only it took the Roman Empire 238 years to devalue the currency 90%...we have already devalued the US Federal Reserve note by 90%...in 99 years.Just saying.

I have a small box of goodies. Firestarters (refillable lighters, butane, lighter fuel) compass, pens, notebooks, water purifying tablets, collapsable water carrier, screwdrivers, pocket knife, 2 identical fixed blade knives, sharpening stone, multivitamins, old style gps (if sats work), led headlamp, led lenser torch, spare batteries, magnifying glass, glass marbles and slingshot, mini crossbow and bolts, quality machette, 2 packs playing cards, toothbrush and paste, pack of plastic bags, basic sewing kit, basic first aid kit, cheap celphone (if cells work), some rugged clothing, boots and jacket. Rope, some stretch tie downs, a small tent...and my 9mm with some ammo. Cost me jack shit over a period so what the hell. May never need it but it's there.
Anybody like to add anything I might need, please do.
Sarcasm and jokes accepted too. :-)
ps Items must be small. I have tested and I can just get this shit on the move and still have a spare arm for my katana...

if the shit truly hits the fan, how long will any of your preparations last? Best first of all to prepare YOUR MINDS, because if you freak out, nothing you have set aside will serve you and if someone steals it all, or you run out, your miind is all you have, and it can "save" you, depending on your definition of save of course.
