100% agree. The old-school cartoons were always full of classical music, and humor that is sometimes way over today's kids heads. There was no cursing or vulgarity and the stories often conveyed a moral lesson. It wasn't just entertainment, it was a moral direction and higher minded if simple education.

Today's cartoons are vulgar, twisted, disrepectful, sensational, and cheap.

5* for Beethoven, the classic era and you.

Wishbone was a crash course in literature! My daughter was quoting Odyssius (spelling?) in the second grade! Is it still on? Don't they still have kids' science shows??

And fritz the cat was one dirty cartoon of the 50's! It was "vulgar, twisted, disrespectful, and cheap!"

Remember that artist test that was in all the magazines where whey would have a drawing of a human head. They would tell you to draw it, and to send it in for a rating, and to see if you were potentially artist material.

Well not to poke fun, but we had a family friend who was a bit challenged. Now just so you understand, if you asked her to draw a stick figure, she couldn't do it. She did however send it in for a rating.

Well to make a long story short as I pretty sure you already know, she was scored a 100%, and proceeded to purchase the art kit, and was on her way to the starving artist saga which is for another thread, and another day as well. lol.

I don't know how the hell I got over here to this topic, but I thought with all the bad shit happening, you would all enjoy a bit of true and real life drama/humor.

My pleasure! No wonder our generation is so addicted to doom sites like GLP when you realize what they were filling our heads with back then! That cartoon IS a little creepy from this current perspective, huh? Wonder what other gems are out there that were trying to warn of things to come?

You are never too old to cry. I'm just about 58, and I still cry when I listen to music. Strange part, that didn't happen when I was younger.

Tears don't dry up with age. At least with me, I now realize all the things I've missed in my life. Maybe that's why music does that to me now. My life has much more meaning the closer that inevitable day comes.

That's because those shows are what's known as "adult animation". The older generation can't wrap their head around the idea that adults want to watch "cartoons". They think they are strictly for children and that adults would be "embarassed" to watch it. Well, times change, deal with it. It does not mean we are in decline.

Why did adults at that time want to "send a message" to kids with everything? That sounds like something a power hungry maniac would do. Let the kids think for themselves -- they'll surprise you if you trust them to do so.
