^^ Aldebaran. I've used google sky with Iphone, as it's the brightest star. I work nightshift, it's there. Get up at 4am more often and it won't be so strange.

I've noticed that almost since 3 years as well.

By the way, do you have any coordinate to skyview about it? Or any other source that could also prove it? I'm not saying it's desinformation though, I just like to triple-check everything before =)

It's not big, it's just bright.
Brighter objects appear bigger to the human eye (kind of "overexposure")



Both Jupiter and Venus are clearly visible since weeks in the morning sky - they didn't "pop up in the sky just like that"

Mercury

Morning Sky

Mercury is in conjunction with the Sun as August begins and is too close to be seen. Midmonth Mercury is at 0.2 magnitude, diameter 7.6"and phase of 37.23% lit. Look low on the eastern horizon just before sunrise. Mercury rise at 4:51 AM. The sun rises at 6:21 am. On the 15th, a very thin waning crescent moon is 08°30'24" to the upper right of Mercury.

Venus

Morning Sky

Venus at midmonth at -4.3 magnitude, diameter 23.5", illumination 50.13%. Through a telescope it appears as half lit. Venus is located in the constellation Gemini the Twins at midmonth. Venus rises in the east around 3 AM. Best seen just before sunrise. It will appear 19 degrees above the crescent moon on the 15th.

Mars

Evening Sky

Mars at midmonth at magnitude +1.1, diameter of 5.5" in the constellation Virgo located low in the west-southwest after sunset. Mars appears as a faint ruddy red object above the horizon and is only 02°42'13" from the planet Saturn on the 15th. On August 5th the one ton science laboratory Mars Rover Curiosity lands on the the planet Mars. Curiosity's landing will mark the start of a two-year prime mission to investigate whether one of the most intriguing places on Mars ever has offered an environment favorable for microbial life.


JUPITER

Morning Sky

Jupiter at midmonth is at -2.3 magnitude and a diameter of 37.4" is located in the constellation Taurus the Bull. Jupiter hangs in the eastern morning sky 24°50'12" above Venus and 51°51'05" above Mercury. Just 13 degrees above Jupiter you can see M-45 the Pleiades star cluster. Asteroid Vesta at 8.3 magnitude is 04°38'27" from Jupiter and asteroid Ceres at 9.1 magnitude is 07°07'20" from Jupiter. Jupiter rises around 1 AM. Best time to observe is an hour or so before sunrise.

A small telescope will easily reveal four of Jupiter's largest and brightest moons. Jupiter the largest planet in our solar system.


SATURN

Evening Sky

Saturn at midmonth is located in the Southwest after sunset at magnitude +0.8, diameter 16", located in the constellation Virgo. Saturn is 02°42'13" from Mars and Saturn is 04°29'57" above the bright 0.98 magnitude star Spica near midmonth. The tilt angle of Saturn's rings are tilted at 13.4 degrees this month. A small telescope will reveal the famous rings of the planet. Saturn’s ring tilt has begun to open again, approaching 19 degrees at the end of the year.


URANUS

Evening Sky-Morning Sky

Uranus midmonth is magnitude +5.8, diameter 4", located in the constellation Pisces-Cetus and rises at 9:48 PM and visible most of the night. Best observed when planets is highest in the sky in the early morning hours in the southern sky.

NEPTUNE

Neptune at midmonth is magnitude +7.8, diameter 2", located in the constellation Aquarius and rises at 8:17 PM and visible most of the night. Best observed when planets is highest in the sky in the early morning hours in the southern sky.

'Coz i've compared both 'planets' and they were really different from each other - the first one was sparkling, while the other (as you can see on the footage) wasn't.

Again, I'm not being blind 'coz I don't want to see, completely the opposite, I want to have sure that either me or everybody here will have the same unquestionable understanding about what'a hell was that.

Iphone's use a motion gps thing and basically use your camera as a referance for direction. Just point it towards the bright odd looking thing in the sky. Its Aldebaran.

Upper one, near the Moon, is Jupiter
Lower and brighter one is Venus.

I've been viewing them each morning for a coupla weeks now, at various high magnifications in telescopes.
They are DEFINITELY Jupiter and Venus - and I know J and V when I see them, i've been doing observational astronomy as a hobby for 35+ yrs now.

If you look before the sky gets too bright, Aldebaran is there near Jupiter too.
And tomorrow morning the Moon will have moved to a point justbelow Jupiter, but still well above Venus.
Monday morning, Moon will be nearer Venus - Tuesday morning, Crescent Moon will be below Venus.

The patterns you see at 1:12 and 1;45 are simply the result of your camera failing to focus a bright light.
As an amateur astronomer, I routinely induce this pattern deliberately in telscopes, as a means of checking and aligning the optics.
An experienced eye can tell a lot about optical alignment and even inaccuracies in the telescope's mirrors/lenses from the way a de-focused star-pattern looks.

Jupiter and Venus will be in pretty much the same place, relative to the background stars (use Aldebaran to gauge this)
Moon will be lower though (see my previous post)
The Moon moves significantly from one day/night to the next.

Even bright planets tend to scintillate (sparkle) when there are turbulences in the air.
Second: your cam was way out of focus.
Where do I know this? Go to 01:11 - your object is a hexagon. That means your cam has six collimator leaves and is way out of focus.

Camcorder can't focus on stars/planets when set to automatic mode - you must focus manualy. Even my DSLR can't in automatic mode.



Crescent Moon, Jupiter and Venus

Go out tomorrow morning with your cam, focus manually and you will see a nice Jupiter and a half lit Venus.

I really don't mind it, I've already seen pretty much worse hehe and to be honest, I don't expect anything else but this kind of behavior.

Denial is one imminent reaction, spontaneous, I'd say, maybe also instinctive - doesn't matter.

What really matters is to achieve a better understanding about something that might be confusing ppl, especially due to everything that's going on recently.

Having in mind your location, date and time it seems pretty clear to see that's Venus, in fact it's easily proven in any free astronomy software...I suggest you just to contrast it, download for free Stellarium, see it by yourself

But Dude, don't be disappointed, we're already many person that feel clearly that something is going on here, time will tell what it was

I have seen this same thing in the sky for many, many years. It changes colors very fast....red, blue,green over and over again. I have seen it in different positions in the sky at different times of the year. It's either Venus or Jupiter. Nothing to worry about. Just enjoy it.

If you're so freaked out, and if you have a smartphone or tablet, why not download a sky program and simply find out for yourself what it is instead of making a video and acting like you've found something amazing. Your obviously tech. Savvy. These programs are free and take a few seconds to download. Try it tonight and get back to us.

Not freaked out dude, I just had no idea about what was going on. Imagine, wake up in the middle of the night, check the sky and see something completely odd (which is until now to me, 'coz i've never seen Venus as big as it was today). Wouldn't you be surprised?
