Anonymous Coward User ID: 16542544 United States 08/11/2012 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It's ridiculous... I spent $14 buying ingredients for a large salad the other week (baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, sliced chicken breast). Quoting: ANHEDONIC The serving sizes of many items are decreasing also. Smaller portions, but same price as before. Even things like candy bars and soft drinks/beverages are flirting with the $2 mark.... All signs point to inevitable collapse.... big salad??? :CosmoKramer: |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 21130757 United States 08/11/2012 06:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I live on the West Coast and I have noticed a dramatic increase in the price of eggs, just in the past week. I was paying about $3.00 for two dozen regular white eggs and the price jumped to $5.00 per two dozen. At one of my favorite groceries they had a printout on the egg case that explained the increase, citing the drought and the rising cost of feed, as well as a large avian flu problem in western Mexico. I came home and tried to search the internet for more info, and couldn't find info on the current situation. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21267328 My question to you all, has anyone else noticed their food costs rising...?? YES! I live in Oregon and we've noticed it here too. my friend and i were out nibbling on all the sweet blackberries last night here in eugene. she kept commenting that it was odd there were so many; hadn't anyone been eating them? i remarked that once things take a downhill slide people will be fighting over them. |

Here are some grocery store prices: $12 - $15 for a t-bone steak ~10 oz $6 - $7 for 1 lb bacon $12 - large jar of peanut butter $57 - 12 pack of Coors Light, 12 pack of Bud and 4 Mike's Hard Lemonade (Bought that combo last weekend) $1.26 - $1.32 per litre for gasoline $4 - 1/2 pint blueberries $4 - for a loaf of bread $10 - $12 for a pack of smokes It goes on and on but you get the idea. We are coming into the season of plenty where fresh local produce starts to enter the market. We stock up and can our own goods this time of year because it saves a fortune. Also we buy direct from the farmer. Wonder how long before Agenda 21 catches up to us on that front? Here is a piss off for ya: My sister had the property tax on her house jacked by 187%. Why? Because she lives on a lake so the government, which is broke, decided that shore side properties needed to go way the fuck up. She complained and they told her that she should consider herself lucky because some of her neighbors had theirs jacked to 200-250% As governments become more and more strapped for cash they will look at all possible ways to milk the system. gas $3.89 gallon generic bread 99cents cigarettes on the reservation $25 carton but yes i notice a lot of other stuff going up slowly but surely! :) |

These are the good ones with 3 leds and the four inch solar panel. These usually run $11 to $14.00 People bring them back because they don't know you have to turn them on or because people turn them on in the store and they run down the batts. |

Quoting: bvndy They staged a fake "drought" so that it would cover up the effect on food of printing tons of worthless money. GAS is also going sky high, only reason manufactured goods are keeping station is cheap crap from CHINA. But eventually the effects of inflation will be hard to hide(ten dollars for a loaf of bread) It's a long documentary but this guy did a very good job in connecting the dots... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1750180 United Kingdom 08/11/2012 07:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its because we keep saving millions of people in famine stricken third world countrys. These countrys cant support themselves but yet they keep breeding like rabbits. It sounds harsh but the real humane thing to do is pull out and let their population drop. This is what happens to other species when they out grow their habitats, their population adjusts to what their sorroundings can support. Simply not true on average the amount of money and value in aid given by an average western world country is less than 1% of its GPD a drop in the ocean would make no difference what so ever |

I have seen the price of food skyrocket in the past 3 months. My bills (for 4) went from 275 a month for food/supplies to 450+. Supplementing now with 99 cent store items (which are not all 99cent anymore), and Big Lots. |

He told me last wk that they were warned egg prices were about to go sky high. He was told it was due to the drought. The chickens were too stressed to lay the eggs. I laughed and bought an extra dozen eggs just in case. I guess he was right. lol The power is yours. Take it back. In a world where you can choose to be anything, choose to be kind. |

Oh yeah they did that in our county in Pennsylvania, except for they came around in 2010 to "reassess" properties. Well it was a big scam as it doubled, tripled, and quadrupled many people's property taxes. Many people revolted. "When you don't keep your word, you lose credibility and trustworthy friends" |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 6594610 United States 08/11/2012 07:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I find the prices to be just right. However for those of you having a hard time, maybe your just not making enough money. So even if prices were cheaper you'd still be complaining. Money is important in society and the way the economic system runs is just as important. But most dont know a thing about either. You cant have inflation if wages dont rise. And thats not happening anytime soon. If anything you'll have your wages cut. Ha. Further the so called drought has still yielded enough corn to be the third largest in history. Iowa the biggest corn producer is not effected by the drought. Further corn is for pigs. Have a meal meant for humans. |
