We are not in a binary system. Sirus is over 8 light years away.

yes we are and we are getting closer everyday

For the next 60,000 years, then afterwards will be moving away again.

It will never get close enough to be considered a binary companion.

For that to happen the Sun and Sirius would have be orbiting a common barycenter.
