Re: Why are you afraid of lawful gun ownership?
When Carter was running, everyone was shouting that if he was elected, you could kiss your guns goodbye.

When Clinton was running, everyone was shouting that if he was elected, you could kiss your guns goodbye.

When Clinton was running for a second term, everyone was shouting that now that he didn't have to worry about getting re-elected, he was definitely going to take your guns.

When Obama was running, everyone was shouting that if he was elected, you could kiss your guns goodbye.

Over the last 40 years, no one has taken our guns. If anything, our gun rights have been expanded.

No one is going to take your guns. There are too many guns in the US for them to try. There are more guns in this country than there are people in most countries in the world. If anyone tried to pass a law restricting gun ownership on a federal level, nearly every state would file 2nd amendment lawsuits, and SCOTUS would strike that law down. Impeachment proceedings would start soon after.

It would be political suicide.

There was a ban on high capacity mags, and semi auto rifles as I remember.

You mean the assault weapon ban that was signed by Clinton and enjoyed bipartisan support in response to the Oklahoma city bombing? Yeah, no one has brought that back since it expired. Not all semi-auto weapons were banned, and high capacity magazines are pretty unnecessary anyway.

If you ever are in a situation where you need more rounds than you can fit in a standard magazine, unless you are defending from a bunker, you are gonna die.

Your argument simply DOESN'T hold water, as we've never been in an atmosphere where you HAVE NO RIGHTS before. Where you can be hauled off WITHOUT charges, and never heard from again.

Gee whizzz... even with all of the latest Psy-Ops, A FELLONIOUS Attorney General who's admitted that he wants Americans brainwashed out of their guns, and a president who's made CLEAR references that he wants certain guns out of the hands of civilians, and ONLY in the hands of the military.

We've got a DICTATOR in the white House, and this has only been his FIRST term! Can you IMAGINE (with your limited reasoning abilities) what this POS will be willing to do when he has absolutely NOTHING to lose?

Do you know ANYTHING about this "Weathermen" Communist, and what his REAL plans are for AmeriKans?

Not afraid of standard hunting rifles and handguns, but why the fuck do you need assault rifles is a mystery to even most guns lovers.

The "US Constitution" and the "Bill Of Rights" was created to protect Americans from a power grabbing tyrannical government. Like the ones earlier Americans fought off in the 1700's (british red coats ring a bell?). The 2nd Amendment wasn't created so we can go duck hunting. Get a fucking clue. So yes, an AR15 is a legitimate firearm to have. It's "WE THE PEOPLE", not we the government.

Even lawful citizens can go off the deep end, and end up hurting someone or killing them, or many others, since a gun makes it so easy to kill multiple people.

I have a hard time grasping the idea of someone being free, yet needing a gun to protect themselves against other american citizens.

Then you'd have a hard time grasping the founding fathers of this nation, their warnings, and the nature of man, and tyranny.

Please, for your own sake, and the sake of a free nation (rapidly sinking), do some research. Learn some world history.

You would never have even had a free country to BEGIN with, had it not been for people who resisted tyranny with guns.

And with the current "society" we live in, only a MORON would count on the "god graces" of his fellow citizens, and ESPECIALLY the "good intentions" of this putrid "government", the most corrupt and criminal "government" in the entire history of this nation.

There is no point in arguing with anyone who advocates limiting your rights, in order that they may feel safer.

Those people are simply irrational and naive.

They would have you believe that history can not repeat itself.

That human nature has somehow changed for the better.

Re: Why are you afraid of lawful gun ownership?
This is timely to me for the simple fact that my sister took her gun class today and I found her experience interesting.

First off, she has always thought as I do: we are gifted this right by our forefathers and for good reason but neither her or I ever desired owning our own gun.

Her opinion changed about a month ago when three men started banging on her front door in the middle of the night.

She is caring for my Dachshunds while I am not able and had it not been for their commotion by running to the door and barking their heads off, worse could have happened.

I don't know about guns- they scare me to death but she got something with a laser on it.

Anyway, she said when she attended this 2 hour course on gun safety in Oklahoma she would be the only one there.

WRONG! It was PACKED!

It seems every day people here in Oklahoma are starting to buy guns for when our new gun carry law takes effect in November.

Her certificate allows her to shoot anyone dead if they break into her home tonight.

On Monday she applies for some permit but basically she now owns a weapon to legally shoot someone.

I have mixed feelings about it and of course you have some silliness in the "rules":

You can carry one into Chili's where they serve alcohol but not into Odies where they serve alcohol only.

The majority of people here are level headed and they far outweigh anyone who is not so I just pray there aren't many accidental shootings.

I'd rather not participate but will be very grateful if I ever need one who is around when I am in trouble.

Everyone who ever living under hardline tyranny would agree with you. Without a means of defending yourself, you would be NOTHING.

Just ask the Soviets in the Gulags. The Nazi concentration camp victims. All the slave labor workers in China. All the dozens of MILLIONS who have died, because their "governments" disarmed them first.

You are so stupid, it's scary. Assuming that it is just stupidity, and not something more sinister, like a sold out maggot shill.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

I'm gonna pay for buses to take inner city voters to polling places JUST so Obama gets re-elected, just so I can laugh at all you dumbasses and your "der gunna take our guns" threads.

I swear. I will hire a few dozen drivers to go around and find all the welfare cases they can to drive to polling places on election day.

You've taken idiocy to a whole new level.

And on this forum, that is a REAL accomplishment.

Congratulations.

Not afraid of standard hunting rifles and handguns, but why the fuck do you need assault rifles is a mystery to even most guns lovers.

Unfortunately, you're speaking to someone who COUNTS on "government" for everything in his life.

So there's no way that common sense and reason can ever penetrate the level of neutering and dumbing down that he's suffered.

But thankfully, he's so stupid that he doesn't even know what happened to him.

No brain... No pain.

I just got back from the range. Great day here in Ohio. Overcast and cool.

Oh and, guns rock....

What part of Ohio? I was at the Spring Valley range sighting some rifles in earlier :P

Not to contradict you Miggy, but people have the right to defend themselves. Your sister didn't gain any rights by attending that class, in fact she took on responsibility. If it was a concealed carry class she will still have to wait on her CCW license. Yes, you are correct, you cannot carry while drinking. That just makes sense. There is no harm in arming yourself. You can always just drop the gun if you are too scared to defend your own life. Your sister is doing something about it. Go, learn to shoot a weapon. I suggest you girls get together and take some classes on shooting, and do it together. It will be fun, and you will gain the edge in this sometimes hard world. Seriously, she's into it, don't let this slip away. Go shooting with your sister.

Re: Why are you afraid of lawful gun ownership?
...

Then you'd have a hard time grasping the founding fathers of this nation, their warnings, and the nature of man, and tyranny.

Your level of naiveté and sheer ignorance appears to be far greater than could be dealt with in a single post.

Please, for your own sake, and the sake of a free nation (rapidly sinking), do some research. Learn some world history.

Then... get back to us.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21640558

Don't need to.

You all talk about freedom, yet you have to have a gun to feel safe from fellow citizens and your own government.

How the fuck is that being free?

Tell me.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18665062

Hey shit-fer-brains...

You're simply out of your mind. You are WAYYY to ignorant to have ANY kind of rational conversation with.

Best of luck to ya.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21640558

Thanks for not answering my question.

But go ahead, continue to have to rely on a gun to make you feel safe.

No wonder you are afraid of the government taking your guns.

Without them, you would be nothing.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18665062

So... you trust your government... eh?

You trust your fellow citizen... eh?

Look at what your fellow citizens would do for a few dollars discount at Wally World. Can you imagine if they were starving to death?

Remember those Black Friday videos?

But AC # 18665062 says that we are "nothing" if we don't trust government and our fellow citizens.

Gee... I don't want to be "nothing". I guess I shouldn't provide any defense for my family.

Lawful and reasonable are not the same thing. There are a lot of crazy mofos with legal guns.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1531456

There are a lot more crazy mofos with cars...I don't see anyone trying to restrict the use of cars like they try to restrict the use of guns, and both can kill people just as dead.
 Quoting: Mike in SATX

Yeah no. There are drivers tests, and you are constantly required to follow tons of rules and regulations while operating your motor vehicle, otherwise you can lose your driving privileges.

If guns were controlled like driving privileges, you could get your guns taken away for using them in a showy way or for every time you hit anything but your target.
